Ok I see that but if the comic isn't canon it wont matter. Hate to be negative about it, but based on what I know of that series so far, it may be nothing more than a footnote along the way.

But seriously, I bet shooting a Zombie would be like using a flamethrower on him……..which would be fun in a sick way.

They're maggot-infested corpses who have got up and walking, if that's doesn't look like zombies I don't know what does.

I just can't buy that they're zombies… Those glowing eyes, that bowler hat-wearing one's jaw and the other guy's tongue… those aren't just reanimated corpses, they're demonic gunslingers.

Judging from that axe that cut the head of one of them open on that page I saw it did seem like they were creatures of flesh and blood and not made of ectoplasm. So the proton beams should probably have the same effect on them as on zombies.
Well, more or less. On the page you posted I do now see that they are not the common Night of the living dead versions since they appear to know how to use guns, can talk and and stretch body parts. I figure it's some kind of supernatural energy that has taken control over these corpses ala the deadites from the Evil Dead movies.
But I do think the proton stream would burn a hole through them or roast them pretty badly as it would do to a zombie.
Though maybe not necessarily kill them. Since they ain't the classic Romero variety, head injuries are maybe not fatal to them and they could posses healing abilities.
