DVD: The first DVD release of Ghostbusters 1 & 2 from 1998 (?)

I was just wondering if the first DVD releases of GB 1 & 2 from 1998 (I think) are worth anything. These look different from the current available DVDs with the green slime on the cover and contain less bonus features.

Personal worth only I'd assume. I keep them with my other ghostbuster collectables… not with my DVDs, as i watch the green slime versions. GB1 was my first VHS, DVD, and Bluray.

This original dvd releases for GB 1&2 were for the 15th anniversary (of the first film) at the time and came out in 1999. My memory is that this release was more accurate to their original films releases, due to the complaints from us fans back then. I believe the aspect ratio was more accurate on both then the current green slime release. The colors were also not tampered with as seemed to be the case on the first film on certain effects and colors. Personally I never double dipped and still have this release and never got the green slime ones. And your right theres less stuff on GB1 among the extras on the latter dvds. The RGB episodes on GB2 are the only things I'm missing, but I have RGB the complete set, so there. I personally prefer the first dvd releases and think you should get those ones if you can.

The 15th Anniversary release also has a spiffier menu design and the Ramis/Medjuck/Reitman commentary also retains the Mystery Science Theater-style silhouettes.

I prefer the 1999 releases as well, although GB1 in particular seems too dark (lighting/colorwise) when compared to the 04 release or broadcasts. I like the menus and box art a lot better.

The minor annoyance for me is the double-sided disc that GB2 had; I can't count how many times I've had to fix/fill in scratches on one side or the other.

I have both versions, the 1999 and the green box set… I really dig the 1999 one for its extra footage, but the green one has a nice box and the scrapbook it´s an excellent item for collectors.
