dying flight suits

i just bought one of the thirty dollar khaki flight suits. has anyone tried bleaching, dying, etc. their suit to get the right color? please share your ideas, successes and failures.

I didn't really ever think of dying it though. If i remember right though, someone on here once said that the flightsuits they used for the movie were actually khaki and then they were dyed grey over top of the khaki. I didn't wind up trying it. But it would be interesting to try it though.

Try asking who you bought it from about that, usually the retailers and wholesalers will know about caring for the suit. More then likely you dont want to dye it so ask someone who knows more about that material to be on the safe side.

I just got the suit and its 65% polyester so odds are its not going to take a dye job evenly so I'm going to scrap that idea unless I hear from anyone who has tried it.

In that case you better not do any dying, but maybe you should look for materials that you can dye and have a suit custom made for you. It would be more expensive but its just an idea.

I just got my flightsuit and I am very impressed. Now to start putting the costume together.
