I hear the original plan was the stuff on top was to serve as a pke or giga meter, and a proton gun of its own, and that the ecto was to do something on its own in one of the movies. I cant remember where I heard it though. but thats what I remember.

There was a deleted scene where the Ecto-1 is given a parking ticket, and, obviously not liking this, a gadget from the roof moves about and burns the ticket.

Ok, I've seen a drawing from the pre-production of the first film of the Ecto-1. It had side and top views of all that “crap” on the roof, and descriptions of every piece of equipment. I seem to remember it being on eraser99's site…? Its been about a year though. I'm sure that if someone can find that drawing, that question will be easily answered!
