Ecto-1A nearly complete...minor detailing left

My freind has been bugging me to clean mine up and mod it for some time now…I'm just so attached to it….I dont know. It's the collector side of me that just doesn't want to touch it, no matter how shitty of a condition it's in…there's still collector's and sentimental value. Descisions, descisions. I've even considered doing the EGB ecto up right…..err…I don't know though…

Collector value is only good for things that are Mint in Package. If your vehicles aren't Mint in Package, then by all means, go for it.

Chances are, you'll make it look better.

I think that more accurately it's possibly sentementality… you've had that thing since you were a kid (I assume) and you don't want to risk breaking it and losing a childhood toy.

Sherman, set the WABAC Machine for…oh, say, 1992.

It was a rainy Saturday morning. I was at a garage sale, looking for toys. Came across the ECTO-1A, decals and all on it, being sold for about 50 cents–I think some of the parts, like the chair, and some of the doors, were missing, but I can't be sure–it might indeed have been complete.

We got home, and Mom WD-40'd the decals off. Stupid idea at the time–I ended up drawing designs on it with crayon and hospital tape, resulting in a LOT of gunk and corruption on the sides.

Yes, it was a stupid idea…or so I thought at the time. Fast forward to 2005. What decals I had on there have since yellowed and peeled. This turned out to be just what I needed, for I planned to overhaul the whole damn thing.

I already mentioned the cleaning process in another post, so I'll leave it at that and say that I think I have a better toy from my tinkering.

Exactly…the thing is…it's already a bit busted up….you see, when I was younger I REALLY wanted an actually ecto-1. The lack thereof drove me to try to…ride my tiny ecto-1a. It cracked a bit in some placs to say the least, otherwise, sturdy toy. It could REALLY use a refurbishing….just, yeah the sentimental value is through the roof…lol. (*ray)

Y'see… Y'SEE?! I remade the Ecto 1 and 1A stickers in Illustrator and made a pdf of them for someone to host and did that ever happen? NOOOOO.

Uh. In other words I have a Ecto 1 and 1a sticker sheet that I recreated that you can print on a sticker sheet (you can get a pack of them at a Wal Mart for 12 bucks).

PM me your e-mail addresses and I'll send the file… unless someone wants to HOST it as previously requested.

We'll see. For now, I've done an excellent job of re-creating most of the stickers by hand, and they look pretty damn good. However…I still require GBII logos. Can you modify the “warning stripes” for the doors so that they are in basic TONKA yellow instead of orange? They need to match my stickers.

The hazard stripes above the doors on the actual car were orange. The only Tonka yellow ones on the film car were the ones running along the sides of the vehicle at logo level.

Okay, we'll go over this once more.

I *BOUGHT* the warning stripes separately at Hobby Lobby, in a pack of scrapbooking stickers. Unfortunately the only shade they had was yellow–I can't remember if they had orange or not!
