Did any of you guys get/build this model. I had one when it was first issued but some overspray paint got on it and i ruined the body trying to get teh paint off, so i salvaged all the GB stuff(lights, wheels, decals ETC). I recently got a new one on eBay, and am planning on getting the Polar Lights Ecto1 kit. If any of you guys built this kit, and have some pointers(painting tips, detailing, etc) let me know.

Thanks for the pics, i also have the GBII DVD that helps with some good(clear)pics of the EctoMobile. I already started working on it. I made some minor changes: replaced the kit tires with a set of BF Goodwrench Comp T/As from an old TransAm kit(the model has unrealistic Goodyears, that are too skinny and dont look right. I replaced the chrome rims with a set of realistic steel sloted wheels with chrome hubcaps, when painted, and mounted on the painted lettering on the BFG tires, they look IDENTICAL to the Ecto1A's wheels. I also tinted the windows so they have that stripe of non tint on the side and back windows, and I just painted the red part of the body and fins. I only wish the GHOSTBUSTERS and WERE BACK signs didnt look so fake, I would really like decals that look like the LED message board signs with the same two messages. Oh and when the Polar Lights kit comes out I am planing on doing a Ecto as the original script was written(black paint and strobe lightssmile.)

I have a few tips for the Ecto1A kit, I read this in a model magazine. What is the hardest part of ecto1a to paint, the fins. The best way to mask them off is Bare Metal foil. Take a piece cut to the length you want, apply it to the body then take a cotton swab, smooth the foil to the body, till the raised detail of area your going to paint appears(it will show up trust me). Then take a new hoby knife and cut away the area inside where your going to paint(be careful the foil tears easily, take your time here) after you remove the unneeded foil the body should be visible, now just mask of the rest of the body with newspaper and tape and spray the body Testors Gloss Red. Let dry, peel off the paper, tape, and foil. if any red paint bled through, take a clean cotton swab dip in thinner and carefully wipe away the excess red paint below the area you wanted painted, then paint the seperate fins, glue them to the body and there you go.

well if you wanted to go all out on the led boards, you could do waht im doing in another model, what im doing is taking fiberi optic cable, incase you dont know if you shine light on one end you see it on the other, you can get the cable in diffrent thicknes, so just punch out holes the side you need, for the ligth bars i would jsut use leds, but bacc to the fiber optic thing, you could actully make the signes say didfrent thing if you built a master control for the fiber optics, and put it where the engine in the car would be, i would sugesting cutting the hood so you can pen it to access the batt,

No, I just want the APPERANCE of the LED boards as a sticker thats what i want. The boards are too thin to light them up that way you would see all the fiber optic wire. If anybody out there can take quality stills or create a picture using paintshop of the sigins saying GHOSTBUSTERS or WEREBACK and print them out in scale with the decals that go on the Boards let me know or email me, my email is in the personal information box.

it was just a sugestion, and the boards are not to thin, i have the model sitting right infront of me, you would have to modfy them a lil but that would only make them look more like the movies
