Equipment in GB III

Personally I always imagined if a thrid movie was to be made, I'd go with Egon/Ray working on new equipment through out the movie. Maybe have them in a constant test stage? Have Egon or Ray explain what these new packs and traps or other Ghostbusting gadgets could do, and what the caution of using them could be. And so far from what I have seen of the improved equipment in the video game i'd go with a simple bassic look as they did. I got to admit that I found the ideas/designs they choose are very classic looking while giving them a simple touch of something new and acceptable. Also i'd keep the game as canon towards to the new movie if and when they decide to give the green light. I mean as much as most of us had a hard time accepting GB2, it's still canon so why shouldn't this game be right?

I know how to read a book and why get upset that I misspelled a couple of words. Chill out! I'm pretty sure that the new Trainers will use the Original Protonpacks or new Protonpacks when the Original GB's train them. I'm, pretty sure that there will be new tools with the old tools in GB3 so we have to wait and see what goes on with it in GB3.

Admittedly - hard to argue with that one. They'll either use the original packs or make new ones.

so we have to wait and see

Now that's the first thing you've gotten absolutely 100% correct.

Personally, for my taste, I would like to see new equipment. After all these years, Egon's bound to have come up with something new. At the least, I'm sure some of the equipment has worn down or broke, so it would need to be replaced, and knowing Egon and Ray, they would have updated it in the process. I'm with the group that says the video game should be taken as cannon - plus it would be sweet to see a prop version of the all-inclusive new pack.

Whatever ghost catching equipment they come up with it needs to be extremely dangerous and destructive or have some kind of other comedic quality to it. The Ghostbusters make their own equipment so it should look home made and it should not be user friendly.

Exactly. I guess that why I really like how they handled it in the video game. It really looks like they kept it pieced together in the firehouse - instead of sent it out to be manufactered to Egon's specifications.

Yeah, it's the same reason I love the Delorean from Back to the Future. I love the mish mash of docs home made devices and gizmos attached to it.

With the “Iowa Ghostbusters” idea that I have, one of my ideas was that they would eliminate the standard trap and have a pack that would act as a trap/temporary containment device. My reasoning for this was inspired by Braxton's “ROTGB” where they're out in the wilderness and rely on the remote control trap. By doing this, you would eliminate the possibility that a trap could tip over or not be long enough for a constraint stream. If they were to use something like this, it could take what could normally be a 3-4 person job and narrow it down to a two person job.

I don't think any type of equipment that makes catching ghosts easier should ever be introduced. I think some of the comedy and drama will be lost if the job gets easier for them.

True, but you would have to think of the practicality of it. I got the idea from looking at a bug vac, which is a non-leathal vacuum cleaner with a long plastic tube to safely remove spiders, etc from your home when you don't want to use a shoe.

Something akin to that was introduced (and never seen again after) The Treasure of Sierra Tamale, and it did seem to be a symptom of the show jumping the shark. A combined Pack and Trap just feels like it's going too far with the logic.

Although there is something that did seem to work, the backpack Egon wore in (and Roland is seen with in the intro to) Extreme Ghostbusters.
