Everyone Can Relax, I Found The Car!

Yeah the MM probably suits the Ecto-1 more because it has a utility sort of look about it. The Superior is definatelly styled to be a Hearse, and if I was a funeral director in the 50's and 60's I'd definatelly choose the Superior over MM (but working with stiffs all day would be a crap job so I doubt I'd be a funeral director for starters).

BUT! I'm proud to announce that I've finalised the deal on that ‘59 Superior, and I should be taking delivery just after Christmas. It’s being freighted on Monday from South Australia (which is about 1600kms from Sydney, where I live). I've already been called by the local Cadillac La-Salle Club which is keen to have a Hearse among its members, so I might go cruising with them in the near future. They've got some really cool Caddy's in their club.

(now i just gotta find a firehouse I can move into)

Check it out:

Rick, she's a beaut.

Did you have to go through much restoration work on her?

Kingpin,

Nope, that's the beauty of it. The guy I bought it from did all the hard yards already. Just about everything has been reconditioned. Good price, too, considering it doesn't need any work. Cost me about the same as a new car, except this one will actually appreciate in value.

About the only thing left to do is tidy up the engine bay, which could do with a respray, as well as painting the engine block.

Gosh, what a minter! Superb car mate, I hope you'll be able to keep her looking like that for the rest of her life!

Is it just me, or do the wings overhang the headlamps just a touch?

EDIT: Just realised. I forgot to comment about the car that this topic's about. Nice car, Chad. She's looking great, at least in the photos! You've done incredibly well to not only find a MM but one in great nick!

I'm really looking forward to the finished project, mate. Best of luck!

How much did you spend on the ole girl Rick? Just to let you know back in the 50s thru 60s Superior was the choose of most funeral homes.

Don't really wanna say exactly, but if you can find out what an Australian '05 Ford XR6 Ute is worth, then it cost just a little less than that (not much though). Plus a grand to get it to Sydney, and another grand to get it road registered.

Yeah I've seen the website with that 60 MM. Not a bad looking car. That company has two other hearses now as well. They'll be spewing they missed out on this '59, hehehe.

If they got that Superior they chop it up and use it as a tour vicheal. Hey may you send me some pics by email and i'll put it on my site, I mostly need the back end cause to expand my 59 caddy info.
