Extreme Ghostbusters is in 16:9? For a cartoon made in 1997?

…something ain't right here.

Methinks it's the sort of 16:9 that Transformers: The Movie was. I.E: They crop the shot so it looks 16:9.

God, I hate it when they do that. It's totally pointless, and all it does is take stuff out.

Well, that's an immediate “no-buy” for me then.

It could also be a mis-print on the site's behalf.

I said that was what I thought, doesn't mean that's what it actually is.

Well, it could be:

1. As you said, they crop it to make it faux-widescreen.

2. They actually animated it in widescreen (doubtful) or framed the animation so nothing would be lost if the footage was cropped (yet again, doubtful)

3. The site made a mistake and its actually 4:3. (most likely.)

A German GB board also tries to spread the rumour “Yes, EGB was cropped.”

According to this source it will be 4:3. (*winston)

Any date listed for the UK release of EGB on DVD?

I own a region free DVD player, and I am glad that I did because I have discovered that many vintage cartoons have releases in Europe when they are not available in the US.
After I got my player I ordered the two volumes of The Real Ghostbusters that were only released in western Europe, this was when it was unclear if Columbia was going to put the show on DVD. I have to stay those two volumes along with the three released here and the 2005 edition of Ghostbusters II really helped ease the wait til Time Life made my dream come true this year. I would love to get EGB when it comes out, I currently have two episodes on VHS though I no longer own a VCR player so I am unable to watch them anymore.
