Actully, King, you should should posts rules on certain fan-based GB Games, aswell.

Anyone who wants to do a RPG GB Game straight from a book source, I would recommend Gurps Basic Rulesbook ( Mainbook) and Gurps Basic Campign Set ( Mainbook). Gurps- Science, Horror, Creature of the Night, Undead, Shapeshifters, *Psionics, Bio-Tech, Wraith, if possible, Terror, Myth, Ultra Teck, High Tech, and a GM Screen.* Here's a lists books produced by Steve Jackson. http://www.sjgames.com/gurps/books/

Or Basic d20 Basic Set books.

* These books might help you in basic ghost busts or making the standard equipment, too.*

Yeah, hi, sorry, this is really annoying of me, but I have a question about rule # 8. I think what you probably mean is that we don't want fics which portray canon characters as gay, or which have explicit homosexual content. But it almost sounds like you're totally disallowing homosexual characters. You're not, are you?

I agree, I was quite shocked to read something like that here.

Homosexuality is apart of life. It exists. The Greeks actually encouraged homosexuality amongst their warriors as it led to valour in battle. There is no homophobia here nor any discrimination against homosexuality or bisexuality.

That said. We have certain standards. Slash - whilst a term used to coin ANY same sex pairing, is usually of a more graphic nature, and in this circumstance, we do not allow pornographic fics of ANY nature on this forum, be it Het or Slash. There are, more than likely other places where you can post such fic, but here is most definitely not one of them.

The acceptability of homosexuality aside - it is a minority. Usually slash fics only exist to satisy the sexual desire of the writer and the readers and are not in existence to actually promote innocent entertainment.

We expect a certain level of quality in fic work on this forum. GBN has, on record denied certain crossovers due to their absurd and poor quality nature. We withold the right to deny same sex fics for the same reason. It is unacceptable to turn an established character gay just because the writer gets a kick out of it. If you are in question as to whether one of your fics would be acceptable on this forum, then please contact a moderator prior to posting and a case by case review will be made.

Non established character same sex relationships, are however completely acceptable.

Indeed… we know for a fact that none of the Ghostbusters or characters from the original cartoons were gay or lesbian, so we won't be expecting them to be in any stories posted here.

People tend to get a bit irate when something from the established material is changed with little, to no justification.

I know which story Rosey's asking about… I'd actually say gay characters is the lesser of the ‘evils’ :p that I saw in it. All I'd recommend Rosey, is maybe put a brief content warning that it's likely not a fic for everybody.

I've never heard the term Slash before.

I think it literally has it's origins in ‘character A / Character B’, taking it's name from that horizontal slash.

Hope that helped.

I wasn't enquiring for selfish reasons - it just occurred to me that the phrasing of the same-sex rule could be better, because it simply isn't that clear. I know the rule list is, like, right here, but I'm going to isolate that particular rule in this post to illustrate my point. It says:

Slashers, and same sex relationships, in my personal opinion, are not what we want here.

As I said, it doesn't give any real guidance on homosexual characters, whether in relationships or single - but it really could imply no gay characters at all. I happen to think the Guardian explains the rule beautifully on the Omnibus Fanfiction board (http://ghostbustersff.proboards24.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1067110195):

Same Sex Couples: Depictions of homosexuality follow the same rules as heterosexual ones. Gay and Lesbian characters are allowed in stories, and of course, we are not discriminatory towards such stories. However, stories portraying core characters as being homosexual run the risk of deletion if the story violates core cannon…

It goes on, but I don't think I need to quote any more.

There was no hidden agenda in my question - if that was what I was asking, I'd say so. I would like to stress that I don't write the canon characters as homosexual, I don't write pornographic stories (homosexual or otherwise) and I have said nothing here to imply that I do so, or have any desire to do so. I do write about original characters that happen to be gay, with no qualms whatsoever.

(Gay characters have appeared in a few of my fanfictions, and one must assume this includes the story Kingpin thought I was asking about - but I'm afraid I can't seem to figure out which one that is.

Edit: Oh… I might know.)

From my understanding, original gay characters are completely fine, just not changing the sexuality of already established characters.

Yeah, I, or others may try reclarify the guidelines some day, but original characters who are gay are fine… so long as they don't have a gay relationship with the obviously straight, established Ghostbusters. :p
