Mac- Silverstein is far from punk rock. Whoever sent you that must think that punk rock is buying a skirt from Hot Topic with safteypins allready in it that don't open. Traditional punk rock tries to avoid sounding like the velociraptors from Jurassic Park.

With your love of 50's music, I would reccomend the Cramps:

Ha-ha that description is exactly right. The kid did buy hot topic clothing and sometimes wear some pretty weird stuff. I seen him with a Hello Kitty shirt on one time, the first words from my mouth were “umm… what the hell you wearing?”

Anyway yeah that song was better than the punk rock music I usually hear but still seemed more extreme than the 50’s rock.

I don’t get why they scream and try making there voices sound like monster voices and stuff.
Punk is a message, if you don't get punk rock, the message isn't for you.

This is no punk music but it's a good exemple of the “music-message-voice” combo. The voice reflects a will to change things, a distress signal, and how serious the subject is. The music is like an horse running for an objective, or a countdown leading to an obscure destiny. Everything calls our attention.

That’s weird, I never thought of music as that. I always thought of music as being something to just listen to and enjoy not as carrying messages and stuff.

Like these two songs right here are just enjoyable. I don’t think of them as being messages throw music just plan good music to listen to.

I understand what you mean but I think you forgot that you knew

We all know the songs “We are the world”, John Lennon's “So this is christmas”, Bowie's “Heroes”, etc.

I think we hear less music about “changes” because people realised that, in their routine, there's nothing they can realy do when not in the right position to follow and keep things in the right direction. And with all the stress we have, sometimes it just feel better to listen to Mika's “Relax, Take It Easy”.

When not in the right element, a new style of music is like a cacophony

True but I think some songs are good enough that they will “just about” always be enjoyable to anyone. Like the five songs below all fall in different categories but I enjoy every one of them a lot.

Willie Williams - Armagideon Time (Reggae)
Pointer Sisters - Neutron Dance (80’s Dance)
Ozzy Osbourne - Hell Raiser (Newer Rock)
Tornadoes – Telstar (Oldies)
Beethoven - Fur Elise (Classical)

Notice how not one of the songs is considered rap or heavy metal. The reason for that is Rap and Metal are two opposite extremes. I don’t think it’s possible to make a rap or metal song that people from both sides would enjoy.

All tastes are in nature. It's a good fruits salad but it may still have too much sugar for some people :-)

For me, Ozzy will always stay in the heavy metal section.

Getting kinda off topic here, folks.

In other MH news, I picked up the Motorhead box set off Amazon with my X-mas money.

Yeah now that I think of it maybe one of those weird Rock Rap bands could do it. There was this band that made a song exclusively for GTA and it’s weird because it’s like both rock and rap mixed together.

I just want to show you the coolest part of the lyrics in the song:
(G) - Grand Theft Auto
You gotta make a mark and move where you ought to,
(T) - Theft
Determination to steal what you can and run from the nation,
(A) - Hey what d'ya say
We automate the sequence and speed for my gettaway
Take it to the edge, there's nowhere to hide,
And call up the boy; Let's go for a joyride

But I still think some songs are just pleasant for most people to listen to despite who they are and what they normally listen to.
