Luckily I went a few years back, where I took pictures and got to go on the ride. (*egon)

It's gonna take a while for the park to reopen, what a loss.

There's some good news and some bad news.

(Before I begin, I'll refer to the whole structure as the Clock Tower here, it's just easier)

The good news is, the earlier reports that the whole square had been destroyed were a bit premature. The set was damaged by the fire, leading to the destruction of the facades lining the Southern side (if the Clocktower was on the Northern end of the square, then it'd be the buildings that were on the Eastern side that burned) of the set. Whilst the Clocktower has survived, it didn't go without some grazing from the flames… but considering some of the other parts of the lot, it's a miracle it didn't burn completely.

KNBC: Walk through the damage

However, there may be a sting in a tail. The reports that no film had been lost may have also been premature, as BTTF.com reports some irreplacable films may have been lost.

It's good to hear that the courthouse has indeed survived. This makes its what….second fire its come out of relatively ok? I am like Peter Venkmen…I am courious as to what pieces of film may have been lost.

Edit: I was reading on google a moment ago that they were estimating that 40,000 to 50,000 videos and film reels of films and television shows chronicling back to the 1920s were damaged or destroyed. They also mentioned several times that it wasn't a huge loss as multiple copies of these damaged reels and videos exist in other locations.

I don't think they really know the extent of damage yet, since there easily (and unfortunately) could of been non-replacable film destroyed. Hopefully they did back-up everything is there is no loss.

Just watched the news a couple of days before, that was a hell of a fire… so sad the BTTF scenarios were damaged.
