I say if a situation comes up, temporarily de-mod the allegedly troublesome moderator. Then, put it to an open community vote. But keep outright bashing and whatnot out of it.

Any suggestions for the future if and when there are problems with a mod.

Figuring that out is part of the job we elected them to do. Let them do it. If they need suggestions, they'll ask.

Three things.

First of all, as this is a democratic community, I believe that ANY of us should have the “authority” to impeach a mod– note that impeachment is not removal, it is a process of investigation and consideration that may or may not lead up to a removal.

Secondly, I think that the most fair and even-handed way to handle a vote for removal would be a recall election of sorts, with the possibly unseated moderator put up in election against those that ran against him in the original election but did not win. The winner of this recall takes the mod's place, or, if he wins, he is not removed. It works in California!

And, third and perhaps most importantly, I believe that we should leave this subject more or less alone (although the inclusion of this third item makes my post hypocritical. I realize this, so don't bother flaming me for it.) Chad has already said that things will be thought out, and a process for impeachment and removal will be pieced together.
