yeah, the guy above me is right. nintendo sucks. smile

you know, i STILL DONT GET IT!
ANYONE of you, execpt the mac people (smile) owns a wonderfull pc, the one and ONLY game thing. a console just CANT get the graphics of a pc. you know why? because every tv on this planet has just 768x576 pixels of MAXIMUM resolution. i dont know of a tv with more. and the best thing (at least here in germany it is like thatsmile from these 768x576 you only have about 640x480. cause the tv manufactorers tune them, so you see the tv-picture all around the tv. if you own a capture/tv card, just look at the tv station's logo: on your tv, its alot closer the its corner then on the tv card.

however. i can almost play any shooter in 1280x960. now tell me: WHAT console can do that? huh? smile

uuh, playstation 2. with kick-ass graphics. they said, the were better then on any pc. okay. they were right. but that was almost a year before the launch. now look at max payne, or halo, or doom 3, and then look at playstation 2's screen. IT MADE ME LAUGH! smile

pc is an open system. that means, it can be upgraded as soon as new parts are available (okay, its expensive, but looking at you guys' props, i think you can put 500-1000$ a year for new stuff, dont you?). now what console is open system? huh? none! yes, you just buy a new one every 2-3 years, but are then still able to play your old games without having to put your old console out of the chest it laid? guess no. smile

sorry if i got a bit rude, but i HATE consoles, and i cant understand why anyone with a pc buys them. you have MUCH MORE power right in front of your nose…(:

Oh come on guys.

A console and a PC are similar. You say we have to buy a new one every few years, it really every 5 years, but a PC needs upgrading about every 18 MONTHS.

Nintendo has been around since the 1800's when they made a card game. I don't see that as a sucky company.

Well, if i want to play a 3D shooter, i will play it on the PC. Quite frankly, i have no desire to play a first person shooter on a console, as it doesn't compare to a pc. Usually i enjoy consoles more for RPG games, platformer games, one on one fighting games, and basically any non-first person shooter game. smile

In all reality. The Microsoft X-Box is a computer.

I'm getting a GameCube, and I'm getting an Xbox too. Speaking of which, are you haters ready to stop spewing crap and start speaking truth? A lot of the Xbox posters here are either unintentionally misinformed or intentionally lying. Or swallowing some fanboy crap whole.

Let's look at your biased, inaccurate statements one at a time:

Runs on Windows

No it doesn't. There's one sitting here on my desk, a nice bright green Xbox debug. It does not run on any form of Windows.

unstable (crashed on the E3 floor in the middle of a game)

Just like, um, every PS2 and PC game ever? You talk about it like it's not something that happens during almost every demo. Beta software crashes all the time. That's why they call it beta. I have had entire E3 demo appointments cut short because the game just wouldn't behave on cue–and that's not platform specific. That happens every single day in my world. Hell, I've gotten GBA EPROMs that crashed. If it's still crashing when they ship the software, then you've got a case–otherwise, I wouldn't pass judgement on your GB pack if you said “I still have six months of work to do before it's done.”

the developer support isn't good

That's not what the developers have told me–to my face. Developers like the Xbox and its toolset and have said very nice things about Microsoft cooperating with them. The amount of games that are already done and ready for review are ample proof of that. I don't know where you're hearing that, but it's not from a developer. Maybe it's from a one-sided fansite?

the number of consoles available is minimal (although that doesn't effect the system itself

The Xbox will launch with about as many as the PS2 launched with. They had to scale back the 800K plan to more like 500K. That won't be enough…but neither will the GameCube allotment, which should be about 700,000. Anything under a million will sell out for either platform because it's new and it's the holidays. And they're both good machines.

As for the Current Software Library, besides DOA3 and maybe, MAYBE Halo (we don't know if it's good yet)

And yet you're talking about it anyway. Halo is good. DOA3 is good. But you haven't played either yet, so why are you even commenting on their quality?

there is the notable lack of a SINGLE killer app, and few franchise entries that would really make anyone look twice.

And with a handful of games ready–five by launch–the GameCube's killer app is…? I'd say Luigi's Mansion because everybody here will likely want to check it out, but I've heard many people say it's not for them. But that's okay–software is a marathon, not a sprint. It's not what's out today but what's out over the lifespan of the product. And even though it's launching with a handful of titles, GameCube will catch up to PS2 and Xbox in terms of number of games available as the market develops.

Many Xbox games are available on other platforms - hardly a compelling reason to take a chance on this newcomer

SSX Tricky, NBA Street, Madden, THPS3…all will be available on both GameCube, PS2, and Xbox. Your point is?

and the exclusive titles are primarily original games that lack a proven track record to attract gamers.

A nice generalization with nothing to back it up at all. The same statement could have been said about the original Pilotwings, or Metroid, or Final Fantasy. “Oh, who knows what it will be like?” I thought that was part of the fun.

So…if the games are new on Xbox they're bad, and if they're sequels on Xbox they're bad. Thanks, I see where you stand now.

Like I said, I'm buying both. Buy what you want and play it–it's only a game. But stop spreading lies intentionally. And if it's not intentional, educate yourself before you speak.
