when did preordering become such a big deal?

you just go, put 5 bucks down on the game, then when it comes out, go, pay the remaining balance, and take it home.

It's no different than going and paying for it at Wal-Mart or whatever. Unless you plan on picking it up at midnight or something.

Though, that being said, it's not a good argument for preordering either.

I only preorder if the preorder appeals to me, like the Bionic Commando lunchbox.

I won't pre-order it unless there's something collectible coming along with it.

I only pre-order when I'll have to worry about the stocks or when there's something really cool as a gift.

I cannot speak for anyone else but I have my reasons for why I usually do not preorder games.

I think a preorder is a nobrainer whether or not it comes with any goodies, especially when its a game you really want. It gurantees you a copy. Say you go Walmart usually to get your game to find out their shipping got delayed and then you rush over to gamestop to get it to find out its already been sold out. Totally worth the $5 for peace of mind.

I'm actually surprised many people hadnt preordered already but everyone has their reasons. Looks like the marketing bonus worked. :-)

I asked about a midnight going in my local gamestop and they said if the demand is big for the game in that store it could be but for the moment there is no midnight planned, i don't know about the stores in the USA.

I just found out that if a Collector's Edition of this game is made Amazon will let me upgrade for just $10 bucks more. So I am set.

The reason why I order on Amazon is really because I do not have time to go out and get it. I am so preoccupied with school and my job that the only time I have free is after 6:00pm which by them game spot in my area is closed.

After thinking about it, I finally caved and put in a pre-order today for the PS3 version. I'd really like to get the uniform, and this way I can still go to Wal-Mart and buy the Wii version at midnight, and then hopefully get this the day of, and if not, the day after, since I'll be playing the Wii version all night anyway.

Good idea. I was debating whether or not I should get it at Amazon. How are they with video game release dates and shipping times?

They are very reliable. I have only one problem with one video game because they accidentally sold out before giving out pre-orders for some strange reason.

I have not has one problem with them and usually, I get the game with the same week of release so not but 2-3 days after the official release date.

Not the fastest way to receive a game, but it does help when you can;t get out to a game store in time. Plus they always give you deals that may come up and ask you “would you like to do this deal?” or “would you like to upgrade?” They did this when Gears of War 2 and Fable 2 coming out. They asked me if I wanted to upgrade and I was like “hell yeah”

I'm starting to wonder if maybe I need to go out and buy a console. You never hear anything about the PC version except for excerpts here and there. I don't want to get the short end of the stick when it comes to player experience.

Nevermind the money I spent last year modding my rig when I heard Ghostbusters was coming out for the PC and the footage they were showing at the time looked like it would need strong specs for a good experience.
