I'm gonna have to agree with some of the people saying that we should stop hanging on to GB3 being made. Yeah, its been over 2 years since there has been any real news about the movie. Sony is doing jack crap with the franchise. Dan, Harold, Bill, Ivan, and Bill can't come to any sort of an agreement with the rights to the movie and everyone knows Bill is being a baby about it, which is why nothing is happening. The most any Ghostbusters fan has going for them is keeping hope alive and remaining loyal to the greatest comedy ever produced. Don't get me wrong, but as of now…there isn't much chance of a second sequel. But, here's something that I have started to realize over time…
Maybe we are partly responsible for there not being a Ghostbusters 3. I wouldn't be surprised for catching slack for saying this. But, think about it. Some of us have been light on the protest for a 3rd movie and some others have been down-right brutal. To make an anology, suppose GB was a heavyweight boxing champion of the world. The champ has had his time, paid his dues, and had his head beat in for the sake of glory and the crowd that loved and supported him. Now that he is retired, is it fair for the people to want a comeback for one last fight. To put the champ through that anguish again, risking his health and livelihood? Now, let's say Ghostbusters is the champ. Is it right to hassle the actors, the production company 24/7 to bring back a franchise that has had its glory and just want's to rest in the memory of fans forever as an icon. If GB came back, its mythic icon status could be cheapened and raped of all credibility and glory that it once had. GB wouldn't be an end to a great trilogy, but would be the continuation of commercial greed and media fodder.
All in all, its good to have faith in the movie and the franchise having one last great and final run, but some of us need to lighten up give the people in Hollywood involved with GB room to breath. Maybe then they'd reconsider their options in favor of GB.
