Update the crappy effect? Why would you WANT them to even touch that.

Your question doesn't make sense to me.

Yes, the Blu Ray is worth getting.

But no, they do not update the effects sequences. The sequences still look as great as they ever did.

This isn't George Lucas we're talking about here.

I am talking about the hell dogs the way they walk they look like plasticine and unrealistic, same as the first Terminator film the robot is clearly stop motion, its just laughable, it was a simple question have they improved on the quality of the effects sequences, thats all

They didn't improve any effects. Nor do I think they ever should. They still look great for the most part.

The only effect that is kinda hindered by the HD is the shot of the terror dog in the fridge. You can clearly see a lightbulb in it's mouth rather than just the light shinning through. Definitely not a deal breaker, though.

I would say the blu ray is worth it for the new special features alone.

Yes, it was a simple question, and it was answered for you, quite simply as well.

Understand, you're going to start a discussion if you call something about the movie crappy. People have opinions on it… which in fact is what you asked for to begin with.

I just picked up the Criterion Laserdisk and I must say I prefer it over all the other releases including the Blu-Ray. It has the original teaser and the deleted staircase exchange. Now it's lacking all kinds of other stuff and obviously anything newer special feature wise, but the film itself looks the most like I've seen it in the theater.

I actually don't think I've heard of the “deleted staircase exchange”… what happens?

EDIT: Nevermind. I was thinking you meant at the end, walking up 55 Central Park West. You meant early, when they're walking downstairs to their offices in the University (I assume).

Yeah. It's on youtube. Where Venkmans talking about how he introduced Ray and Egon so he deserves all the credit.
