GB Legion Hardcover Update/E-mail From 88MPH Studios

Agreed, Kingpin, but surely there's got to be a way not so much to promote Ghostbusters, but the continued fan enthusiasm about Ghostbusters. Perhaps by showing a wide support campaign about just the support itself might draw some of these production studios to rethink the continued viability of the GB franchise and pick up the reigns, not only in comics, but other cool stuff has well.

Sebastien's original intent meant well. I really believe it did. But if we want things to continue, we need to see if we can promote some hype to possibly lead to new stuff. Honestly, how much do any of us do besides patrol the boards or the fan sites? We should take it past the “usual” areas so GB can get more outside attention. It's likely Sony won't do it, so it's ultimately down to us.

I'd love to see Master Replicas makes some GB props like they did with the Star Wars lightsabers. Or even if they can't use the film likenesses, at least make RGB versions or the 88-style comic versions of the GBs for a new action figure line. That'd be an awesome boxed set.

If you look at the He-man comic history though, they had a real hard rtime with Mattel - if sony had done the same here i would hate to be on any of these boards to see the reaction, but the team put everything they could into the few comics they put out (He-man being their coretitle) and went bankrupt doing it. And Val is still hanging about the message boards continually contributing to the community through whatever mediums possible - along with being the honcho at MV Creations.

I believe Seb had the best of intentions starting it too, but ultimately his methods were, and still are questionable. Most of the posts never offered any real bits of information, except for pre-empting books that came out far later than anticipated, and never really offering up answers beyond: it's a printing problem and it will come out.

I realise they had a hard time with Mattel, but I'm still under the impression they had a studio where the staff worked on site and the editor could stand back from the project once his staff started production as he wouldn't be dealing with advertising, distribution and such…

I do feel sorry for them as a toy company should not dictate a comic, especially when it limits the freedome and creativity of the team… and ultimately puts them out of business.

As far as I can remember, MVC were an offshoot from a larger group like Dreamwave or something like that. Not a big company by any means, probably similar to 88mph when the GB book was up and running - Editor, writer, colourist, penciller and inker. Anyway, we're probably getting away from things…

Has anyone been in contact with anyone else who worked on the book to see if they've heard anything?

Andrew Dabb, Blond and Serge LaPointe all operate their own websites… although I'm not sure if they'd know (Yes, they would if any continuation plans are on the cards), but I doubt they'd know about the specifics of the book…

Still, it's worth trying… I've found Andrew to be friendly and informative in his responses.

The free Vaistron comics helped. :-)

They sure do.

Just as an explanation, he'd been running a competition on his blog for the most outlandish ransom note you could think of (Extra credit given for references to 17th century German philosophers).

So I entered a note, and I think one other person did… but after it ended no word cropped up so I contacted him (asking what had happened), and he offered to send a free set.

Andrew Dabb rocks. :p

So how can we go about getting a refund now if we ordered directly from 88mph? Reading through the last several pages of this thread, it seems Seb has no working contact from the 88mphstudios page. When dealing with international accounts, PayPal can only get your money back if it is still in the account you deposited it into, and even then I think you have to file a claim within 30 days, and 30 days passed loooong ago.

Is the corporate@88mphstudios.com addy still working?

Anybody in Canada tried calling 88mph directly (4182340940)?

Seb isn't giving out refunds anymore. He stopped doing that as it was just negatively affecting the funds he had to print the book (or he didn't have the funds to give refunds possibly, but that's just speculation). It will probably anger you to hear this, but thats the situation last I heard of it. Kingpin will probably be on later to elaborate on this though.

Why do I feel posting that phone number is going to open a whole new can of worms?
