I've hated being a “downer” about this, but at this point, the only things the fans have to go on right now is theory.

There's a difference, you've put your worry nice and constructively, there's no overblown complaining or legal threats, which don't do much for credability. It's possible they want to get as many books sold… but like you said, it's mostly conjecture these days.

I don't believe GC are stocking the book anymore after they refunded people's orders, feel free to check, though I can only really say that, not sure if they'd be willing to reorder the books from Sebs. (*winston)

According to Paypal's verification numbers, Seb has done business with 431 folks through Paypal, with this being a slight increase from a few weeks ago.

Let's assume that these people only purchased one copy (as many of you have expressed shock that I purchased more than one), so that brings us a little short of 500, or half of what he wanted to publish.

And we have just learned that pre-orders are *still* going on. Obviously with less than half of the books sold, Seb is indeed going to have a considerable amount of them sitting around.

I guess we finally have an answer to the “question” Seb asked “Someone” in his late September update. He was hoping that these other 500 books would sell and not leave him in the negative. Obviously not!

What if Halloween comes and goes and there's still not enough pre-orders? Then what? Thanksgiving? Xmas? Will we have to wait for the book to be released until every single copy is sold? I don't feel comfortable having paid for a product with no release date in sight.

Next time, stay with Diamond. If Diamond hadn't cancelled 88's adverts (due to Diamond having apparently been burned by 88), those thousand hardcovers would have been sold and gone by now. But now it looks like we're less than half-way to sold out, with no release in sight, and all the gushers are just thrilled and overjoyed to have someone else holding their money, for an undetermined amount of time with no interest over the *hope* that 500 over people purchase the book.

You could have just cancelled your order.

You've taken things a little to the extreme, you've made your point, several times but keep coming back for more. You could have cancelled your order weeks, nay, months ago and saved yourself having to come back and be slagged by the quote on quote ‘gushers’.

'An answer to the question' How do you figure that? The question was about the post face, not keeping books in a warehouse… and after conversing with Chad, if I'm not mistaken (I'd have to double check what I have), he asked for it to be left open until Halloween.

Sure, we looks like we're going to the point of insanity by supporting Sebastien Clavet, but we don't spend all of our time fretting over an order, when there are more important things in life.

This isn't like a government or dictatorship, complaining is going to have very little, if any effect because the fact that it's being typed out of anger weakens it's credability. Complaining about a comic isn't going to get it out any quicker if it's delayed, and we don't know what's holding it up… but neither do you.

We've made plenty enough speculation and that doesn't amount to a hill of beans, your claiming that Sebastien is the master of this huge scam has about as much proof as the book coming out on time, so both arguments are kinda cancelled out by each other and their lack of evidence.


If the money being in limbo is really your main concern, then cancel your order… it's a right and an action you've had since the very hour you placed the order.

For what it's worth, I don't think Kingpin or Ecto-1 are “gushing” or kissing up to 88MPH.

If anything, they're trying to keep morale up, which is commendable, all things considered. We're all frustrated, but lay off the people who are trying to keep the peace.

Those who can't wait, can always cancel the book. It really IS that simple.

I'm impatient, but I'd regret not having the book whenever the thing decides to see the light of day.

I don't like the wait either, but I'd like not owning the book even less. At this point, I just hope it comes out before 2006.

Alright I've pre-ordered my copy. I had to dip into my Halloween party funds to pay for this so I hope it's not b.s. that the cut off date is Halloween…

Anyway, I am proud to join the waiting masses :-)

Halloween has come and gone… but the website still seems to be taking pre-orders.

One thing I think everyone can agree on is that communication needs to be improved. I don't care how busy you are, it doesn't take more than 5 minutes to write up an e-mail and fire it off to people who haven given you funds and have been patiently waiting for this.

I'll be the first to defend small business and I understand red tape b.s., but there is no excuse for lack of communication…. well unless you are kidnapped and locked in a wine cellar in Istanbul or something..

I have to agree with RevRaven, but you all knew that anyway.

Seriously though if we don't hear anything by the end of Nov. I think everyone who bought it is out their $$$. Oh and BTW, it doesnt matter if a person doesnt ship off to mexico or still has their buisness or whatever….they can still scam ya. Now, I'm not saying that is what is happening but it does happen. People in the comic indstury get burned all the time, espically by smaller companies.
