Everyone here goes on about GBIII, maybe you didn't think of this one but I believe it's ovbious. What are some of the major hurdles that stand infront of a new GB movie? Old cast, practically same plot (or to fix those two, bringing in GBs to put our beloved old cast out to pasture), and finally SONY bigwigs.
Ignoring SONY for a bit (they're suits, what do they know?…). Think of this, rather than a GB sequel movie, what about a GB spinoff? Let that sink in a bit. It may seem blasphemous at first, but it really is a wonderful idea. People on the board here already do it (well, except not in movies) by having their ‘local GB franchises’. That's what I mean by a spinoff movie, focus on something like ‘Ghostbusters Los Angelos’ or ‘Ghostbusters Toronto’… or ‘Ghostbusters Saskatoon’! hehe
I know what you're saying, it's not going to be a GB movie without ‘our old beloved cast’, not to mention Ecto-1, the Firehouse etc. But this is what you should keep in mind; they're still there. With a spinoff movie like this the GB's are still in New York, same as always, now only more sucessful than ever they were before. You can keep them in the same mindset you want, never aging, or maybe have Janine and Egon married, whatever! Going to completely new characters and a new franchise, you're free and clear.
Keep in mind, seperate this idea from XGB. The last thing this we need is anything like XGB. No teenagers, yes a younger cast, but great characters, likely all fairly strange (you've got to be if you're a GB…), new GB's we could get to know. You know?
