GB movie without the III...

Everyone here goes on about GBIII, maybe you didn't think of this one but I believe it's ovbious. What are some of the major hurdles that stand infront of a new GB movie? Old cast, practically same plot (or to fix those two, bringing in GBs to put our beloved old cast out to pasture), and finally SONY bigwigs.
Ignoring SONY for a bit (they're suits, what do they know?…). Think of this, rather than a GB sequel movie, what about a GB spinoff? Let that sink in a bit. It may seem blasphemous at first, but it really is a wonderful idea. People on the board here already do it (well, except not in movies) by having their ‘local GB franchises’. That's what I mean by a spinoff movie, focus on something like ‘Ghostbusters Los Angelos’ or ‘Ghostbusters Toronto’… or ‘Ghostbusters Saskatoon’! hehe

I know what you're saying, it's not going to be a GB movie without ‘our old beloved cast’, not to mention Ecto-1, the Firehouse etc. But this is what you should keep in mind; they're still there. With a spinoff movie like this the GB's are still in New York, same as always, now only more sucessful than ever they were before. You can keep them in the same mindset you want, never aging, or maybe have Janine and Egon married, whatever! Going to completely new characters and a new franchise, you're free and clear.

Keep in mind, seperate this idea from XGB. The last thing this we need is anything like XGB. No teenagers, yes a younger cast, but great characters, likely all fairly strange (you've got to be if you're a GB…), new GB's we could get to know. You know?

Whoa man, what you said there is near jibberish. I believe (though how the heck can I tell?) that you figured I was talking about a live action television show, I didn't even go into that though it'd be a decent idea as well, I strictly meant movies. But yeah the ‘Real Ghostbusters’ making an appearence is of course a great idea, only problem with that is that it would accoplish what so many people were complaining about; that we'd see how old the GB's are. I don't have a problem with it though actually.

As for the idea of new GB's being the children of the Real GB's, that's not a great idea. For starters I think that'd be a joke of Filmation's GB (the cartoon Ghost Busters is about the sons of the Busters in the live action show). I don't think any of us assumed that all the GB's would end up having children, and if they did for them to all end up being GB's is really damning to the story. Not to say the GB's shouldn't have kids, or for them ever to be GB's, but a movie strictly about the children of the GB's doesn't sound good.

One idea that really gets me thinking though is Oscar. A spinoff movie with Oscar as a GB, hmmm… I know that I've always thought Oscar was likely to end up a GB ever since GBII.

I don't think it would be such a bad idea about seeing the GBs as older men. It has worked for other sequals. Don't ask me which ones as my mind has gone blank!

To be honest, maybe we should just leave it alone and enjoy the two classics that we have (GB1 & GB2). If however, a third is made, I hope to god that they use the same director. Aliens 3 & 4 were bad, bad, BAD! American Warewolf in Paris was…. I can't even think of a word to describe how bad that was! It spoilt a GOOD classic.

I kinda had a similar plot idea, except mine would be about some olderyounger kids, mabey college age, and as a new threat comes upon the earth, they go to the old cast for help and training as they carry on the GB tradition, and save the world. and if they got into trouble, as the originals did, instead of doing something drastic, like crossing the streams to save their butts, the older, wiser ghostbusters show up and save the younger ones.
THat's just my crazy plot scheme. Thrash it all you want. I don't care.
just thought I'd throw in my opinion.

THIS IS A GOOD IDEA. A THING TO TRY THOUGH IS HOW ABOUT A CROSS COUNTRY FRANCHISE. GHOSTBUSTERES HQ ACROSS AMERICA? I MEAN THE MAIN BUILDING IN NEW YORK. BUT HOW BOUT SUBSIDARIES ACROSS AMERICA ALL LEADING UP TO ONE MAJOR PROBLEM (THE HELL ON EARTH STORY WOULD WORK GREAT) I MEAN EVERY GHOST CAN'T JUST KEEP SHOWING UP IN NEW YORK! LIKE YOU HAVE EACH PLACE ON A STRAIGHT CONNECTION FROM ONE TO ANOTHER. THE HEADS OF EACH PLACE CHOSEN BY THE ORIGINAL GHOSTBUSTERS.
THIS COULD ACTUALLY BE A GOOD MOVIE. I HAVE TOLD THIS STORY TO MY FRIENDS AND THEY DON'T LIKE GHOSTBUSTERS BUT THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE A COOL IDEA
