GB3 Hellbent

Ugh. Enough with the rap. It hurt part two. Stick with more of a classical sound like the original.

After watching the documentary to Alien 3 it just amazes me how studio execs constantly change things and ruin films.

I remember Bill Murray saying how when he turned up on the set of Ghostbusters 2 to start filming that the script was nothing to what he was originally shown.

Even those pesky toy companies who part finance films stick their 2 cents in and make them put things in the movie so they can make the toys to sell.

I think because people were not expecting Ghostbusters to be as huge as it turned out to be the film makers were left on their own and the results speak for themselves.

I'm sure Sony & co will be trying to tie in as many products as they can in to GB3 probably some up and coming music artist to do a track or two.

I say leave the original Ray Parker Jr track in as the main theme.

Also like AVGN said there was no need for them to have the GB2 logo everywhere, after all they are still the Ghostbusters so just the normal no ghost logo from the first film should of been used.

I hope they don't mess things up again.

Yeah I can see how that would royally piss him off. Explains some of his current reluctance to take part in another film, I suppose.

Both can be used successfully in the same movie. For example, the Ray Parker, jr. song is used to great effect in the logo sequence of GB2, but Bobby Brown's “On Our Own” song (which I really like) is also used and was a big part of the marketing for the second movie…the music video, etc.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to have a huge current star do a new song for the movie, and I'm 99% sure that's what will happen.

As I've said before, the GB2 logo makes sense in GB2, both for movie promotion (it's the second film, ghost is holding up 2 fingers) and for in-movie use (the GBs are back, they've overcome a lot of legal and other troubles, ghost is giving the “V for victory” sign).

I assume for GB3 the logo will be updated slightly in some way. Maybe not an entirely new one, but a bit of tweaking, like how the Autobot and Decepticon logos were tweaked for the new Transformers movies.

If that were true for GB2 it'd be very ironic, considering that Kenner, the main Ghostbusters toy licensee of the time, barely did anything related to GB2. An ECTO-1 toy with ECTO-1A stickers, the “Ecto Charger”/Slime Blower, and that was just about it. You'd think they could have issued a series of figures with GB2 logos (the Series 1 with GB2 logos would have been pretty neat) and a Vigo or something.

Don't forget the figure of Louis, another Ghostbusters II inspired item.

Yeah, forgot that one. I guess I didn't think of it because it might be a little less direct: “Let's make a figure of Louis because he was in GB2” less their thought than “Let's make a figure of Louis because he's in the cartoon now because he was in GB2”.

Odd they chose to make him a figure and never bothered with characters like Vigo or The Scoleri brothers. Sometimes I wonder how the minds of those Kenner people worked.

Wow. I wonder what the original script was like.

Wow. I wonder what the original script was like.

The original concept of Ghostbusters 2 was called “The Last of the Ghostbusters” and was to involve the Ghostbusters in hell, which Aykroyd later repurposed for the unproduced third movie script.

“We did a sequel, and it was sort of rather unsatisfying for me, because the first one to me was the goods,” Murray said. “It was the real thing. And the sequel, you know, was … it was a few years later. There was an idea pitched. And it was like, well, they got us all together in a room. We just laughed for a couple of hours. And then they said, ‘What if we did another one? Here’s an idea.’”

“So they had this idea, but it didn’t turn out to be the idea when I arrived on the set. They’d written a whole different movie than the one . And the special-effects guys got it and got their hands on it. And it was just not the same movie. There were a few great scenes in it, but it wasn’t the same movie. So there’s never been an interest in a third Ghostbusters because the second one was kind of disappointing … for me, anyway.”

At first there was a completely different script for Ghostbusters II which Bill Murray nicknamed The Last of the Ghostbusters. Needless to say the script was not used and ultimately Dan and Harold wrote a new one.
