The more I hear about this movie, the more I hope it doesn't happen.

I've felt like that for a long time now.

I have no faith that anyone could write a script good enough to really close out the trilogy in an appropriate way. I mean, I don't want it to be a setup for more sequels. It's probably because Ghostbusters has always been a favourite of mine, it's my childhood movie, it's kind of “sacred”.

Maybe it's cause i'm getting older, but I just really want the whole sequel thing to die. It's sad really.

Or at least, it sounded like a vote of little confidence on Sony's part to have got two people who were unattached to the franchise to write the script, over the two original co-writers.

Cool insight to the movie.

Dan Aykroyd says he and the other aging spirit snuffers will be on hand for the third installment of the franchise.

“It picks up in present day,” says the “Yogi Bear” star. “No ghosts are left because we took care of them and stored them all. We took all the ghosts out of the hotels and the streets. But then an event happens and something comes through from the next dimension.”

Really? They are going with that story intro…again?
After all the head way they made with the story of the video game.

::sigh::

I don't want to sound like a prick here, but what would you suggest they do otherwise?

I'm interested to see where you'd like them to start from.

This mainly in all honesty.

The whole “We put ourselves out of business” shtick was done in the second movie. To be perfectly honest, I think they need the story to pick up exactly like the original idea I seem to remember was suggested by Dan . Essentially It’s business as usual and the aging Ghostbusters have to deal with the fact they aren’t getting any younger and try to find replacements. During the course of them finding and training replacements have things get progressively worse over the course of the movie. THEN toss in an event or whatever that comes through from the next dimension causing the new and old to have to team up to stop.
