I want to see a third GHOSTBUSTERS film. I have ever since 1989, but I don't like the idea which is being proposed by Aykroyd of a new team being introduced. The whole reason I want GHOSTBUSTERS III made is because I want to see the GHOSTBUSTERS, Peter Venkman, Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddmore. Those are the characters that I am interested in. I would simply like to be reintroduced to those characters and join them once again in a fun filled, spooky story with some laughs thrown in. It's not too much to ask is it?

If it was still the 90's then I would agree with you, but that ship has sailed. If we are gonna get a gb3 then we have to accept that the old guus are old. I'm confident that they can introduce new and enertaining charecters. Times change people. If we want the old crew being bustin ghosts then we would have to get a remake and who wants that?

Yes, they're much older now. But so what? How exactly would that harm the movie? How would it not be funny? If anything the fact that they're 22 years older will be funnier.

I never said it wouldn't be funny, I'm sure that it would be really funny. I just don't really see 60 somethings running around trying to save the world. And besides that's kinda the fun of it to show new guys the ropes. As long as it's well written (which I'm sure it is) and they cast it good, these new charecters could end up being really good. Besides if they have a passing of the tourch kinda thing in gb3, then maybe they can do a gb4 and let the new guys have their own adventure. As a fan of ghostbusters, the more films they make the better it is to me. I'm all for as much gb stuff out there as possiable. While I agree any new guys won't be better than the originals, I still want to give them a chance. Besides we will always have 1,2, and the video game. The old guys had a great run!!!

I respect my fellow Ghostheads, and all the different ways to enjoy this worldwide franchise. I can relate to getting more GB film footage even after all this time…but I am more in tune with my own opinion…
It's simply
Too
BIG.
There are a million reasons why it should be made, and a million more why it shouldn't. Yes I will go see it, if it gets made. And troop all-out from pack to goggles.Period. But after the Hatchet-Job on the Star Wars franchise..well, I'm a little wary. Anyway..we'll see.

I can't see GB3 if it gets made, being a bad film. Even if the old GB's are in a smaller or supporting role, its still a plus. It can't get worser than GB2 or like Crocodile Dundee 3. Comments from Harold Ramis like 3 yrs ago, he stated he wanted no CGI in the effects, if I recall. He wasn't convinced of CGI and always mocked Indy Jones 4 as the reason some sequels shouldn't be made. Lets hope the CGI and good story elements are shared by Ivan Reitman. But its usually the studios pushing for CGI these days as its so convenient today to do and use less staff. I think the old practical way of making movies should still have some merit for GB. But I doubt it and we'll see. Sure ain't hearing much about GB3 these days in the 'net news.

Just found this on the web in an article dated 18/12/11.

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/debbiedowner/news/?a=51524

The almost always reliable National Enquirer is reporting that Bill Murray who has script approval did not like the new version. The script has been written by the writing team that wrote Jack Black's Year One. All of the other main cast members have said that they are all for another Ghostbusters' sequel. Like always with any rumor take this with a grain of salt.

Murray, who’s got script approval, kept refusing to take producers’ phone calls after they’d send rewrites.

Then, after they sent him the latest reworked screenplay weeks ago, Murray fired back his shocking answer – nailing the coffin shut forever – by sending Dan and Harold a box containing the new script SHREDDED into confetti, along with this nasty note: “No one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts!”

Insiders say furious Dan and Harold vow that Bill’s off their “who ya gonna call” list forever – and they’ll make the movie WITHOUT him!

Thanks for that! Hmm…although I don't doubt that Murray is not happy with the script (he received the script months ago and we haven't heard anything), and I'm sure he won't be coming back for it, I doubt the shredding and the note is true. First off, the new script would focus on a newer cast of ghostbusters. So the “fat, old men chasing ghosts” sounds like a made up bit.

Honestly, while I know that Murray is holding back production, I feel the media like to villainize the guy, for some reason. I hope that even if he's not part of it, he'd still give the go-ahead for a third movie without Venkman in it.
