I just wanted to let you all know that the Ghostbusters Message Board has been updated to the latest version of vBulletin. The spammers and bots should not longer be a problem.
I apologize that I haven't stayed on top of this. Ironically, I've been busy working on GBN 2.0 and haven't had time to notice. Looking forward to bringing you the new site so we don't have to deal with things like this.
Best, Chad

I have the latest version of vBulletin installed. I'm not sure why spam bots are still able to post. I will look at prevention options tonight, as I continue to work on 2.0.
Thanks to all of you for pitching in and dealing with the problem. I know that it is annoying and I'm working hard to make life easier for all of us.

Between this and the sometimes utterly confusing control system here, it at times can make a guy nostalgic for the older forum.

I have to say I'm really not a huge fan of this forum's system where it always leaves some small reminder of whatever post or topic has been deleted.
It's not me wanting to be able to delete things and ‘cover it up’, but it gets irritating when in a topic there's a message saying “post deleted by (member)” or in a forum where a spam post has been deleted, but it's title and subject are still visible as the leftover elements of the deletion.

I'm not a fan either. phpBB, vBulletin, Invision Power Board, etc., are all very complicated systems with incredibly poor user experience.
My motto / philosophy during GBN 2.0 is KISS.
Keep It Simple Spengler. :-)

Well, it's official (if it weren't already). The forum upgrate has failed spectacularly to stop the spambots.
