Ghostbuster Chip

I currently work at a local TV Station and was reading through a TV tech mag and spotted an article about the Ghostbuster Chip produced by the Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. The chip prevents or “busts” ghosting images
or images with a slight haze around them. The exact tech aspects of the chip are as follows: A single-chip vestigial side-band (VSB) demodulator IC for digital terrestrial broadcast receivers. It is expected to vitalize the sluggish U.S. market for digital terrestrial TVs, sales of which have been hampered by poor picture quality and ghosted images. The Matsushita chip enables the reception of DTV signals by indoor antennas. Just a nice bit GB trivia.

I wonder who they had to pay for the rights to use the name, Sony or Filmation…

I don't know if they had to pay rights or not. I'll check though.

They don't actually call it a “ghostbuster chip”, the electronics press coined the term for their articles.
