Ghostbusters 1 was snubbed at the oscars and the Golden Globes.

It should have won for everything. I've never even seen the movie that won for best song. I don't like Temple of Doom that much either. And I've never heard of Micki and Maude. Ghostbusters is the more remembered and liked movie above all these movies that won.

Good movies rarely win at the stuck-up-Hollywood-pats-itself-on-the-back awards.

1) This is VERY well known information.
2) Comedies don't win a lot of awards, especially back then.
3) You may not have seen the movie, but seriously, how do you not know about the song “I Just Called To Say I Love You”. Its a phenomenal song, and that's what the award is for. The song itself, not the movie. RPJ's Ghostbusters is catchy, but overall, not that great a song. Its supposed to sound like a jingle for a company, and it does. I like the song, but it doesn't deserve to win any major awards. Its popularity was based off of the movie's popularity, not how great the song itself is.

It doesn't matter if it won any awards, its still one of the highest grossing movies of all-time, and we all know how good it is. It doesn't need some stupid Hollywood award to win.

I don't really care for a lot of love songs.

Unfortunately, the Academy and Golden Globes do. How else did Celine Dion do so well back in '97?

I don't really care for a lot of love songs.

So you've never seen the movie, and you “don't care” for love songs… Have you even heard the song that you're judging as “not being better than Ghostbusters”? Because if you haven't, than you're just embarrassing yourself by saying Ghostbusters deserved to win without even listening to what it was up against. That's just blatant favoritism, and the awards aren't given out based on that.

I agree that Ghostbusters should have won for visual effects. Other than Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, I can not seem to remember too many films from 1984/85 that had visual effects that looked good for the technology available at the time.

I was pretty surprised to hear that it was Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom that beat it to win the visual effects Oscar. Temple of Doom to me just does not seem all that interesting in a visual sense. Still no matter what the Academy thinks, Ghostbusters will still be my favorite movie of all time.

Maybe I am being biased. I just don't really like Romantic comedies.
