Ghostbusters 3 finally confirmed dead.

Is there ever any talk or possibility of you and Bill Murray working together again in the future? Might we ever see Ghostbuster’s 3?

Harold Ramis: I think it’s very doubtful. Dan Akroyd and I tried to get that off the ground once. Dan had a real good idea, I thought it was very funny. He had more energy for it than I did, so he did most of the writing but I said I would direct it if we ever got it going. It was a very hard deal to make. It was way too costly for the studio. Not production costs, costly in terms of what they would have had to pay us to do it, you know? Not because individually we’re so expensive, but because Ghostbusters was such a valuable franchise. It just seemed natural that we would get highly rewarded for it.

But as far as me and Murray… we don’t have a lot of contact anymore. It’s fine. It’s like, I was with Bill when he was exploiting that first original persona that everyone loved so much. Now, it’s like he’s a different person in certain ways, and there’s different aspects of himself that he shows us now, very well too. I really admire the career he’s had since he stopped being “the Wildman.”

Haha Ghostbusters III has been finally confirmed dead for years now, brotha. He said just about the exact same thing in the Ben Stiller/Chris Rock article. At least this statement can't be taken out of context, I suppose…

I personally think that it's stupid to not make a Ghostbusters 3 while there's such a market for retro stuff.

And it entered into pop culture to such a degree…the thing would practically market itself.

I still think there's hope, but probably not for a few years.

Doubtful doesn't confirm it's dead…but i think we all know that it aint gonna happen! I'm not really holding my breathe! I'd love to see it happen…but then again I'm not fussed that it's not gonna happen! I'm happy with the franchise as it is!

Haha how does that not confirm it's dead?!

I can't believe some of you can read statement after statement after statement saying that it's obviously never going to be made and still say things like “stupid Sony” and “hope is still in the air…”

I can't believe a guy who has a picture of himself with a Yoda in his backpack has room to mock others. (*peter)

Well, it's a Star Wars reference, but years of wishful thinking can only go on for so long before it starts to look a little… well, pathetic… just how much do people need to see before they become willing to give up the idea of GB3?

I don't think that Ghostbusters III will ever be made. It's been too long since the second, would be too expensive and the main star of the movies (Bill Murray) wants nothing to do with it, and even if he did I doubt that Sony would be willing to finance a third Ghostbusters movie.

I think that the ‘next big thing’ we'll see of Ghostbusters, if we do see one, will be either a digitally remastered worldwide theatre rerelease or a console video game. I'd be happy with either.
