Matthew
I think that the ‘next big thing’ we'll see of Ghostbusters, if we do see one, will be either a digitally remastered worldwide theatre rerelease or a console video game. I'd be happy with either.

or you can think that they won't have anything .. and just drop GB's out.. maybe the some collector's edition of GB or soemthin.. but I seriously doubt they would make something big… who knows?

It really doesn't matter if it is confirmed dead or not, the possibility of a Ghostbusters 3 is what keeps us talking and writing on message boards like these. I guess it's sort of a bond in all us for maybe the 80's spirit or maybe just what the Ghostbusters meant to each one of us.

Welcome Hutch2426 to the board! I agree with you 100%. That's how I see it.

Me too! It's part of what makes Ghostbusters sites interesting and is probably still the number one topic of debate even though we've been told it won't happen.

Whether it's a sequel or a remake, there WILL be another Ghostbusters film in the future. Some day. I've said it before. This francise is too big to be ignored FOREVER. It may be another 5, 10, 20 or 30 years. Who knows? But to think that we'll never ever see another Ghostbusters film from now until the death of cinema itself seems too ludicrus for me to comprehend.

It will happen. Trust me. Not now. Not even soon. But one day.

Agreed. The franchise is still deeply imbedded in pop culture and will remain so for many years to come. It's too much of a viable commercial assett to be ignored indefinitely.

I predict that once Transformers kickstarts a cinematic 80s revival, we might see something. It can take the industry a while to catch onto popular trends but once something proves popular, as we all know they will capitalise on the sub-genre to the extreme.
This is all just hypothetical, of course. Just an idea!

Well i believe that it's each one of us that keeps that ghostbusters spirit alive, and i do agree it cannot be ignored forever, so we hope!

acccording to the interview ghostbusters 3 is going to hell…

I think that, realistically, it's getting to this point:

No GBIII. Done. Over.

However, I don't think the franchise is done.

The movies were such a HUGE hit that the franchise has potential. I'm not saying I like it, but I could EASILY see a Ghostbusters remake in another 10 years or so.

Then, they restart the franchise completely. Probably a different version of Ghostbusters II. Then maybe, just maybe, a Ghostbusters III, but nowhere near the way most of us want to see it now.

Hollywood loves to do remakes. With so many complicated issues holding a sequel back, it is totally likely that the studio is just waiting to restart the franchise fresh. I hope this isn't considered blasphemy, but I think it could work. I would hope and pray for nearly a shot for shot remake of the original (that's probably not that realistic, but come on, the premise works so darn well that not much would need to be changed).

Just a thought.

As long as the origional cast can contribute in some form I do not see a remake. Its obvious they will not be the main actors but they could definately play a supporting role and contribute behind the camera.
