Someone already is doing it. It's being shown on the Internet. I think it's on blip.tv. I am not sure. I try to find the link and post it here.

The show is like “Reality” Ghostbusters. It's called “Ghostbustin' 911”. The show is ok but I don't think it's that great.

I'll be right back few minutes and give you the link.

'Ghostbusters'
The Pitch: A team of self-proclaimed “Ghosbusters” hunts down all manner of paranormal activity in New York City. (Spinoffs to follow: ‘Ghostbusters: Miami,’ ‘Ghostbusters: Las Vegas,’ ‘Ghostbusters: Special Stay Puft Unit’)
We Hope It'd Be Like: ‘The X-Files’ meets ‘The A-Team’
We Fear It'd Be Like: ‘Ghost Whisperer’ meets ‘Scooby Doo’
Chance of Success: 45%

I love the “Spinoffs to follow: ‘Ghostbusters: Miami,’ ‘Ghostbusters: Las Vegas,’ ‘Ghostbusters: Special Stay Puft Unit’” part. LOL

The “Spinoffs to follow” part should be a major tip off that this is a joke.

I put out this idea a few years ago. It could easily be done. You can either go the L&O route by having it filmed in NY and at a NY studio for sound stages, or you can go the NYPD Blue route where you film all the NY shots you'll need within a few days to a week, and then film the rest out in LA. The latter is probably the best bet since Hook & Ladder 8 is still an active firehouse.

Given the level of effects in shows like Eureka and Warehouse 13 and the Stargates these days, the effects shouldn't pose too much of a problem. But, to keep costs down, episodes could be more character-driven than anything. Kind of like how RGB was.

If this did happen I wonder if they would use the characters from the movie/cartoon. Like Peter, Egon, Ray, Winston and Janine, but played by different actors. Or if they would create original characters for the show.

Personally, if they did this…I would like to see it be based on a Franchise and not the NY Ghostbusters (just don't like the idea of them being recast for TV is all). That way you could have a new cast of new characters with episode cameo or guest stars from the original.

JamesCGamora has a point, recasting the originals is a NO NO to many like me. Make it it New York and relatives pick up the GB franchise or do it elsewhere. Have Aykroyd, Ramis etc pop in for guest shots and such to tie it with the old crew. COULD work, but needs the right vision, directions and actors.
