Ghostbusters Community Chat On Friday Concerning Comics

I'd have to say that it might be a good idea to have the chat and then have Chad post a locked topic with the chat log posted in it. That way, those of us who are unable to be at the community chat (i probably won't be able to get online until around 1 am for example) would be able to see what was said in the chat instead of being left out of it and struggling to find someone to tell them what was said before.

Just to let you all know, I want to chat about the comics. There will be no news about the comic to reveal. I would just like to have a nice friendly chat with you all so everyone can share their thoughts including ways we can help promote this comic NOW. This is a very important subject. I feel we are all responsible to do something to help secure 88MPH Studio's success so they can produce this comic for many years to come.

Hey Chad, could you take the info on the new Comic Book that's learned from the Chat, and make it into a News Article, like you did back in January and February?

That way, people who can't chat will be able to know what was learned. Or like what someone said earlier, you could just copy and paste it in this topic. :s :d

Sinse I can't be here friday. I'm just going to say to promote this beast we should all dress up in our costumes and walk around public places *talks to the side* “like the mall” and share the joy. :d hey it wont hurt.

I'm all up for promoting it. It all depends on how.. That's the type of thing that there should be a topic for after the chat. Frankly, I know a bunch of people might think I was odd if they only saw me walking around the mall in full GB gear. Not to mention the good part of it would be that if someone came up to talk to you you could hand them a copy of the press release or something. So it has it's ups and downs. Hopefully this thing will get enough backing that ANY store would be CRAZY not to carry it. This reminds me of a plan a bunch of my friends and I came up with once.. They wanted me to dress up in full GB stuff and try to get people to go to their store… Maybe I could try to convince them to get some GB stuff, I don't think they get enough business to make a big difference, but I could try anyways… I digress though, I think that a topic should be put up after the chat to let the rest of us that can't be there know what we can do to promote it in our area, IF we can get it there and maybe let other people know HOW to get it if not locally (eg. press release from 88mph studios main page).

hey i'll do it. Maybe if 88mph has a partnership with a store that is selling their comics at malls then we all can help out that way. But hey i'm still going to walk around my mall in the jumpsuit. (my mall is used to weird things; watch the movie Dawn of the Dead, thats it. GO SAVINI)

The trick is to promote the comics, not make people think you're a freak.

If you're going to walk around in your GB gear then that's up to you, but know your audience. If you're just walking around the mall like that on a weekend, you're more likely to get beat up than anything else. But if you're walking around at say…Wizard World Chicago, or the San Diego ComiCon? Well, that's different, isn't it? Especially since we know the guys will be there, and curious onlookers can be pointed in their direction.

My thinking on promotion would be to first start with an internet push. Get it out to every news site you can get your hands on. Comics Continuum, The Pulse, Newsarama, you get the idea. Maybe after they've revealed all four to us here, they could come up with a promo poster of all four that could be used by all the news sites, as a banner ad, etc. Then as the news builds, place an ad in a trade magazine like Wizard…or better yet, something like Entertainment Weekly…as they're now doing comic stuff too. But do it right before the comic goes up for preorder. If you get everyone's attention, they're bound to come and see what all the fuss is about.
