The Internet erupted last week when it emerged Sony had pulled a “dick move” over European gamers with their exclusivity of Ghostbusters in the European region. Of course it was eventually revealed that Atari no longer existed in Europe and that the game probably wasn’t coming out if Sony hadn’t moved quickly.

Cue Microsoft pulling the plug on British gamer’s hopes of playing the new Tony Hawk Ride game on Playstation 3. No word on Activision pulling out of the region as of yet.

Microsoft have managed to snatch the newly announced, peripheral-based adaptation of Tony Hawks (Ride) from beneath the noses of Sony and Nintendo. Well, in the United Kingdom at least. And probably for a set period of time.

Presumably in a vengeance move against Sony for stealing the timed exclusive rights to The Ghostbusters in Europe, the Xbox 360 will be the console of choice if you live in the UK and want to play Tony Hawks Ride when it hits store shelves.

Tony Hawks Ride gets rid of the controllers and button combinations, instead opting for a skateboard device (a la the guitar in Guitar Hero). Players will have to imitate the moves while standing on a plastic replica skateboard deck.

This news seems to only apply in the UK, so all other territories and possibly even the rest of Europe could still see the game on the Wii and Playstation 3 as well. So, there’s going to eb a fair bit of importing around the time of release then?

I wouldn't play that anyways, as one, its Activision, and two, even if I was playing Activision games, I still wouldn't play it cause I'm to afraid I'd land in my TV, or on my coffee table, or on one of the pets.

But yeah, this crap is getting out of hand.

As a 360 owner - that's a dick play by microsoft. This whole console war thing does really suck for the consumer who can't afford both. (Like Jonathan, I wouldn't play the game they've snagged anyway - but for those who were looking forward to it that just sucks).

Why is it that “Atari” is becoming a derisive term now?

I think Kingpin meant to say “'Activision” as derisive means mocking or scornful word.

Fancy way of saying a “bad word.”

Ah, okay, though he mentioned Atari unless he meant to say Activision, and well, if so, its that term mainly cause of them dropping the game back then, and then all this crap with Atari's situation in Europe and all that.

Unless he meant to say Atari there, if thats the case, I don't know.

Kind of odd, because you didn't say Atari…you said Activision…and since he was replying to you, I thought he might off made a brain fart.

Whatever the case, at least you know what he meant.

Oy, I really don't know how I managed to mix “Atari” with “Activision”. Chalk it up to a long day.
