Well, let's not announce the bar being raised yet… I'm sure it'll go up once the film comes out.

True. But based on the trailer, this movie does have a much higher production value than most other fan films I have seen. Of course we do have to see it first before we officially raise any bars.

On a seperate note- Arguably, of all the completed finished fan films that have been released, “Freddy vs. Ghostbusters” is probably ranked the highest. And we have two good looking movies coming out, in “GB Generation” and “Return of the Ghostbusters.” It would be interesting to compile a list of all the decent GB Fan films that are out there, and rank them. Or have nomiations for awards such as:

Best GB Fan Film.
Best Screen play
Best Actor
Best Original Character
Best Bust Scene.

And everyone that has seen all of the films gets a vote. It won't happen, but its a fun idea. And the Ecto Award for best looking Ghost goes to…

That would depressing for the loser of the awards (ala. GB:G :p ) I didn't make films to be ranked, gosh darn it!…That being said….

Best GB Fan Film: Rotgb
(I fine with GB:G being second best! Remember, in my first post I said GB:G would be one of the best, not THE best!)

Give me two years and I can get that spot with“Generation 2”…I hope! (Based on the current treatment, I think I have something amazing on my hands. Plus, I'm shooting it on either HD or film so techincally it should look better!).

If you create a “Most Authentic GB Fan Film” award, I think GB:G would have a shot at that, though!

PS: I can surely get you an autographed full size poster of the film for ya, ViolentG.

HD is great to film on, but when it comes to editing, you'll want to die

Woohoo, the site is finally up!

http://www.ghostbustersgeneration.com/

Snazzy… It definately stands up well next to those sites the big studios launch for the films.

Heh, a ‘GB Fan Film Festival’ doesn't seem a bad idea… sadly it'd be hard to implement online… it'd be different if we had a GB convention…

You're joking…

If that is DV then hat's off to ya.

That's gotta be some damn good lighting and cinematography because I thought sure that was 16 if not higher!

Mini DV is fine, but you see normal Mini DV in walmart etc and such are 1 ccd chip. This camcorder he used is 3 ccd chips, which is professional quality. With a 3 ccd chip camcorder, the footage is great and can go HD. “Mini DV” is not the same for every camcorder.

I'm pretty happy with MiniDV. When it's well lit and well shot, the film look will always be present and will hold up when uprezzed to HD. Frankly, I'm more intrigued to shoot on film than HD (or HDV for that matter)!

Also, a fun gift:
