Your thinking about the 24p or HD camera with 3CCD. There are much lower costing Panasonic 3CCD camera, Such as $400 for a Panasonic PV-GS320 (3CCD). Good price I might add! (although I recommend getting the GS400).

Damn, that 320 is nice, but no audio in. Looking around. My buddy and I want to do a zombie flick, full length and get it out there. The camera and stuff is the hardest thing. IF this had the audio in, it would be perfect.

EDIT: Also the 300 and 500 are seemingly better, but higher. The 300 is like $600 on amazon. Not bad.

EDIT2: Some selling 300 for less than that. Awesome, just NO funds. *sigh*

There's no sense in buying a 3CCD camera for filmmaking if it doesn't have XLR inputs AND 24p.

Unless it's economical! I rather use a cheap 3CCD camera than a low cost 1ccd with horrible picture.

Well guys, no word on your movies and such. I know the work is hard to get the things finished. What are your plans on this? I would love to have these two on full DVD's and such. You plan to have that? Can we donate a few bucks and get DVD's sent to us? Just wondering because I got the new versions of the GB films (yeah took me a while) and I want these two films in my collection but I want full DVD quality, if you offer it. Let us know it is very quiet on the subject of fan films!

On camcorders, you don't need all that Hank as long as you get great video, especially if you start out. I want to do my film, but it looks like I never will.

That's where you're wrong! What most people don't realize is that sound is 51% of the film. I'm telling you, there is no sense spending money on a low quality 3CCD video camera. For a little bit extra, you can get XLR input, and for only a little more, 24P.

You can get 24PN these days though, and that's even better.

You can almost get a DVX100 for the price you can get a cheap 3CCD camera. There's a few on ebay for less than a grand!

I assume you use boom mikes in addition to whatever microphone may be built into the camera, Hank?

daftkid, did you get a 3ccd without XLR? If you did, then we can see the comparisons in the films audio quality.

Eddie has a DVX100, which has XLR inputs. Of course the next major investment is a good mic–which also makes a big difference.

Personally, I try to avoid on camera sound, unless I use it as a scratch track.

Anyway, I need to stop hijacking this thread. If anyone wishes to discuss film equipment, we should start a new thread.

Agreed, no need to hijack so Hank, what is the status of the film (on subject)?
