One problem in particular which I see happening by introducing a new team is unoriginality. We've already seen ‘new recruits’ it in the original movie! Stanz, Venkman and Spengler WERE the new team. They were, in effect, ‘new recruits’. We've already followed the story, experiences and situations of characters who are taking up Ghostbusters for the first time. The joke's been told first time around, perfectly may I add. I don't see the point of redoing it with different team which, chances are, won't even compare to the originals. I'll be watching the film thinking, I've seen this before, only done better.

I think that Ghostbusters III must not make the mistakes of the disappointing Ghostbusters II by being unoriginal and I think that by introducing a new team of Ghostbusters that's exactly what will happen.

I really can not see the appeal in GB3 having a new cast (*rant). Does anyone remember how bad Police Academy was? I think it will be exactly the same.

After seeing this youtube vid

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cm1mOIr_0g

I have started wishing we did have the CGI film, as i remember rumours where it would at least feature the Ghostbusters as the main charecters.

I love Ghostbusters and have been waiting 22 years to see “The Ghostbusters” and my childhood heroes again, not some group of skateboarding dudes. Waited so long to see the original cast, only to get get Ben Stiller, Alyssa Milano and Eliza Dushku or others?? I can also see it being some awful coming of age nonsense as well. As I have said before, if it does not feature the originals, they might as well call GB3 “Dude Where is my Proton Pack?”.

The whole point of the first and most awesome film was the comedy and chemistry provided by the orginal four ghostbusters. Why not make fun of the age aspect?

People think GB2 was bad, I think if the GB Academy comes to light is will make GB2 look like a god send.

Sorry for the long post, I really want to see “The Ghostbusters”!

peace dudes

That was an overly long and winded post…I think just mentioning the Police Academy sequels and the video would've been enough.

yeah, but I am terrified of GB3 being GB academy :-O, plus I am used to acdemic writing (i.e. making long winded sentances ! :p)

Totally agree with the YouTube video to a point, I think the new recruit angle is so they can have more sequals in the future like Ghosbusters 4, 5, 6, etc. and you no longer have to rely on getting the full original cast back as they are at retirement age now and just want to relax with there familys and not spend a year making films.

For me there can never be enough Ghostbusters films, if you don't like the idea then don't watch them, plenty other people out there that will want to, you just have to look at all those fan made projects out there.

It would be good if this launches a new franchise the way Star Trek made 10 movies, some good some bad, but at leat we had the choice.

I doubt there will ever be a sequal as good as the first Ghostbusters movie, but at least let them try.

Finally not sure on the whole inter planetry dimension stuff mentioned, I prefer the way Harold Ramis grounded Dan Ackroyds original work in reality.

Only time will tell now.

Here's my take on it.

In GB III if there is a new team, the story will be not simply be the story of the new team.

It will be a combination of the New Team adjusting to ghosts in a modern world, and the old team adjusting to life in management and support.

Ultimately you can see how it will end. The new team will be in trouble, in over their heads, and it will take the old team one last go at bustin' to save the day. The Last Ride of the Original Ghostbusters.

It will be epic, it will have all the staples of GB, and it will inject some fresh faces, and some fresh humor into it.

Alternatively, if there is no new team, it will be a long series of jokes about aging: ( See Lethal Weapon 4 ). I dont think we really want that… but it could be cool.

Fact is.. They could film Dan Aykroyd picking his nose in a GB uniform and i would watch it for an hour and a half.

hehe

Well I guess a film is better than none, but I seriously doubt it will be funny :-( - I keep having visions of Police Academy Sequels + Blues Brothers 2000 + Ghostbusters (**shudders**, ps I love the original Blues Brothers Film). I would rather see one last film with the originals than a tirade of “Next Generation” Films. Although i do see your point of the “Too Old for this stuff” jokes may wear thin after a while. I would love to see one last film while they are well enough to do it.

I agree on the whole grounding in reality as well, Ackroyds new stuff sounds a bit far fetched even for Ghostbusters. The names do not help either…

I'm quite surprised at the general opinion to be honest, the few fellow GB fans I know in real life feel exactly the same

Oh well i guess I have to wait and see what appears…

I agree with the video. And i said this on the PC comment board, If there is going to be GB3 theres should ONLY be GB3.

i wouldnt mind a few new members to the team, just aslong as the characters are interesting and funny, and the cast is right. But a whole squad of cadets? i know it supposed to be a ‘business’ but still, the there being over 20 GBs working would kind of take away of that family-like character chemistry that the original two perfected.

After years and years of hoping a 3rd film be made, and now having it finally progress, for some reason, i can help but think to that old saying ‘be careful what you wish for’..

But who knows, i was completely terrified when i heard Heath was going to play Joker. now i worship that performance.

so right now, im just being very worried that my most awaited movie will end up in shambles.
