I was thinking… What if I wrote a knock off game of ghostbusters, I do computer programming and it seems like a fun thing to write, so do you guys think it would be a cool idea?

ok insted of a knock off how about this
the ghostbusters 2 game for the gameboy is the only classic game of the gb i've played that was well good

now there are roms on the net of the game

what you could do is this
like the wad ghostbusters doom
make a new game using the gb2 gameboy make a whole new game new ghosts new lvs
and it could be co op one working the pack and one the traps
or both players have both packs and traps
i could even see a pvp game
4 players in a room full of ghosts
the last player standing
or who has the most ghosts when the time runs out wins
now i would love a game like that
playing with other gb fans on here busting ghosts

I wouldn't mind seeing a GB Facebook game.

Keep in mind, that's pretty much what David Crane had in mind anyway when he wrote the original Activision Ghostbusters game back in ‘84…he had this idea that people from all over the world could connect and form teams of ’Busters with this game.

why stop at a fb game

there are games with html where one can copy it and post them on a forum
so make it like that into a flash game and it can be played on any forum
i mean if there are flash games of donkey kong and the first zelda then it can be done

I knew it would piss someone off… I don't mean anything like a game for Xbox or anything like that, I mean a facebook game or something like they suggested. Does anyone know if facebook supports java?

I just might do that, which on would be better, 2d or 3d?

Yeah, I'm gonna write it in the html5 canvas if it's 2d, and (probably) in java if it's 3d

cool i know a site where you can get the rom and emulator for the game
but since copy rights and all pm me and i will give you the site insted of posting it here

and they have other gb roms got other systems

but i had a intresting thought
a ghostbusters rpg based off the game pokemon
no not going around and using proton streams to catch wild poke mon
i just like the set up on battling is done
and how its open “thinking pokemon crystal”

and since gb and the pokemon games for the game boy have the same style it wouldn't be that hard to mix and match

It's funny you should mention that. HAL Laboratories, which made the Pokemon game for the Game Boy, also did a game called New Ghostbusters II, which looks awfully similar to Pokemon (2.5D isometric backgrounds, super-deformed sprites). I think they may have reused the NewGBII engine to create Pokemon, but I couldn't back this up.
