Ghostbusters LA

I was looking over at Ifilm earlier today and found this Ghostbusters fanfilm. I did a search and didn't see it posted anywhere in the project section so I thought it was ok if I posted it. Now this video was made in around 2004 or 2005(one of those). The production value is top notch because it was done for a special effects class at some college. It's only 5 minutes but has the best special effects you'll find in a fanfilm. It's about The Busters opening up shop in downtown LA and a bar is having Ghost trouble…so who they gonna call?

Yes, it's a cool short. Excellent special effects but that's about it.

This was actually shot at Universal Florida and not in California.

Oh, I see. The school is in Florida they just for some reason decide to say it was in LA.

"but that's about it", yeah I thought the same, the ghostbusters, especially the bald one, was terrible. And then there was making the Ecto-hummer, yellow. I see that they only had a yellow car but they're great at special effects so they should have made the ecto white.

You can get a FREE copy of a dvd with all the fanfilm shorts that they have if you contact them and tell them youd like one and include your name and address.

I think the effects are good but design-wise, VERY flawed. The acting is iffy, the girl is unneccesary, the updated style makes them look TOO sleek which causes them to lost what gives the Ghostbusters their “zing” and their rough edges which is why I really don't like this short. The production vaule makes up for nothing.

Of course, the lack of the Ray Parker Jr. theme really kills it.

Bear in mind, it was just to show off the CGI ghost, everything else was toppings.

That's why I like to say it's good CGI short (it's main purpose), just a bad fan film :p .
