Ghostbusters: Past, Present & Future

As if the release of Ghostbusters: Displaced Aggression wasn't enough to tide us over into the New Year, December holds a bit more paranormal elimination and investigation in the form of a Christmas-themed oneshot, Ghostbusters: Past, Present & Future:

Chris Ryall has posted two alternate cover designs on his blog, and they continue to be awesome:

Penning the story is Rob Williams, who has worked on Indiana Jones and SFX. Covering the art side is Astro Boy's Diego Jourdan.

This could be a cool story, the ghosts of Christmas aren't new territory for the Ghostbusters… but I think it could be done well, and a new Christmas-themed story is always a plus… don't know if Diego's art will be good as the samples on Google Images seem to vary… although if it's similar to his G.I.Joe stuff then it should be good.

I just hope this guy Rob Williams has seen the RGB episode “X-mas marks the spot” so he doesn't come up with something that's already been done.

The writer didn't have prior knowledge to the episode before submitting the story, but I think that it won't be too similar even if it has the Ghosts of Christmas.

Is anyone else reminded of 88 MPH's design for Slimer when looking at the first picture?

You're not the only one. I need to dig it out, but I think that design is inspired from it.

Found it:

His face is definitely inspired by the old 88MPH art.

…in fact, his tongue appears identical in both pieces…

The 2nd pic of Ray reminds me of a cover The Saturday Evening Post or in the style of a mid-century Christmas Card.

Does anyone else see a similarity between the Ghost of Christmas Present and Belushi?

Or maybe I've had too much egg nog…
