Nice call Jonathan, up until that last page, I didn't think that they were gonna see Venkman there, and I thought it was Winston coming through the crowd, but lo and behold, Peter saves the day!
Here's my review for The Other Side #2…
Story: 9.5/10
As with the first issue, I really enjoy this storyline. There were some more adult themes in this one, and they're really playing this dark, which I really like. Seeing the guys floating dead in a submerged Ecto-1 is certainly never an image I thought I'd see, and I love that they're taking a new direction with this. The purgatory aspect is interesting and the guys being chased down by the other ghosts to be sent to oblivion was pretty cool. There was again some cheesy/obvious dialog, but it definitely improved from the first issue. I really enjoyed this issue a lot and just kept turning the pages, excited to see what happened next.
Art: 7/10
Again, the issue suffers from some inconsistent art, but it tightened up from the first issue. The guys look a little different at some times throughout the story, and I still think Ray looks like a teenager, although there was a scene where I thought he looked a lot like Aykroyd (I think it was when Ray and Egon were sitting down after they had lost Winston). Winston is drawn perfectly though. Venkman, in his brief appearances, looked closer to the movie this time around… his hair looked kinda weird in the first one to me. Speaking of hair, I was hoping this would be touched up in subsequent issues, but when did Egon shave his head and replace his hair with a porcupine? I kid, I kid, haha. It does look kinda weird though. I will still say that I wish the cover artists did the whole issues, but that's just cuz I love the covers so much, not that I don't like Nguyen's art. These first 2 covers have just been amazing, the third one looks good, but not as good as these first two.
Overall: 9.5/10
This issue was just great. Comparitively to Issue #1, this would be leaps and bounds better, but Issue #1 had to establish how the characters are in this comic book world. Now that we've seen that, just as I expected with Issue #2, we're seeing much more story and jokes and the stuff that will hopefully keep us turning pages of Ghostbusters comics for many more issues.
