I don't know what the law is in TX, but in here in MI, petty theft (anything less than $400) is punishable by up to six months in prison, not to mention a fine ($500-$1000), so yeah, you would…in real life. Theft is theft, no matter how you look at it, and piracy is the worst kind, because it's so widespread, and almost impossible to trace.(*peter)

Id like to address one thing. Piracy is the worst kind of theft? One that affects corporations? I know people like you say it trickles down to the consumer, but prices stay the same. Games arent 60 bucks cause of piracy… they are because of the development cost and marketing cost.

I wont venture to say piracy is harmless, cause that would be incorrect. But the worst kind? Thats the kind of hyperbole that makes me sick to my stomach.

The worst kind of theft is what the banks and stock market industry has done to us. The worst kind is drug lords stealing foreign aid supply in Somalia.

Piracy is waaaay down on the list from that. Lets not start acting like peoples well being is affected by it. Video games are a 13-14 billion dollar industry DESPITE piracy.

Also, there is not a judge in texas that is going to send a first offense offender to jail for six months for stealing a video game. I doubt one would get more than 30 days in county for a second offense. But you arent going to jail for it. Now if you sole 200 bucks from someone, there would be a difference.

That's because almost everyone here is 100% against piracy and don't want it encouraged.

That and the fact that this entire site would go down if the mods decided to let the link stay up.
