Ghostbusters vs. The Evil Dead

This story is still a work in progress so I created a teaser paragraph

It is 1998. Business has once again slowly declined. It seems the Ghostbusters aren't needed anymore. But all that was about to change. On an ordinary bust, Winston comes across an ancient book. He is drawn to it and knows it is significant. Soon the guys come across zombie-like creatures. They are searching for “one called Ash.” The Busters are dumbfounded. But the creatures' numbers continue to multiply. Egon frantically searches for answers (*egon) . Ray begins a search for (*ray) “Ash.” Peter tries to fight the beings (*peter) . Winston is acting unusual (*winston) . Could there be a connection between the book and the outbreak of zombies? Will the Ghostbusters be able to save the world again? Tune in for the panicked story coming soon.

Feel free to comment or question.

PLEASE don't use the “zombie” word. They're totally not zombies, dude. They're “deadites”. Zombies are animated corpses, Deadites are demon-possesed. Big difference. Often times the people aren't even dead (ex: Deadite Ash in ED2), and sometimes not even biological (ex: laughing furniture)….

Also, you may want to change the 1998 setting if you're working within the omnibus timeline. I believe business was going pretty good then. Or just drop the whole “lack of business” thing completely. It might be more interesting if they have to deal with other busts in the midst of all this. Other than that, GB/E.D. crossovers are always fun. I'd love to read it.

What he said, they're deadites not zombies. I suggest you watch over the movies again.

Plus, I'm not to thirlled about the whole idea of Ray looking for Ash. I don't think they would of known about him and his adventures with the Necronomican. Plus, considering everbody who actually came in contact with Ash thinks he's crazy, there is no real way Ray or anybody really would know he was the “chosen one”.

I think the best way to go with this would be for Ash to be working in an S-Mart in New York, and then the deadites start coming and killing everybody. Ash probably runs into them or something while he's hacking and slashing with his chainsaw.

I know they are Deadites, but the Ghostbusters don't know this yet. Ash will explain this to them (although how much they believe is unknown). The business issue will pick up as the guys are called to try to deal with these new spirits (Kandarian Demons). Ray actually runs into Ash by accident like you said when he heads to a drug store (S-Mart) for snacks. Peter will NOT get along with Ash because they are so similar in personality. Egon thinks he's crude, Ray actually believes his story, and Winston befriends him. It will be an interesting new relationship.

Evil Dead was great. It was a clever mix of Sci-fi, Horror, and Comedy in my opinion. Not long ago I saw part 2. I never saw the first part though, only 2 and 3.

This idea sounds neat.

I suggest throwing Time Travel in (as far as Ash is concerned) just for the hell of it. I remember a cool scene in the Evil Day Comic that was recently released where Future Ash fought the past version of himself just after he outfitted his hand with a Chainsaw.

Something like that is what I am refering to…Clever use of time travel

Maybe have Ash pull one of his “Hail to the Kings” on Ms. Barrett that is if she still is Ms. Barrett (on a side not I seem to have forgotten how to spell her name…bah…too early in the morning)

Though most of the monsters in these movies are demoncally possessed people, there are some exeptions. The old lady in the basement in EDII was a re-animated corpse. She even had maggots crawling on her skull when she popped out of the ground. Not to mention Evil Ash's army in the third film.
And he did after all say zombie-like, meaning that they resemble them in some ways, but aren't the same type of creature.

she did however turn into a crazy demonic creature so that actually would make a difference if we were to label Henrietta (the old lady's name) a zombie.

But, she was a “animated corpse” at the same time so this is quite a quarrel…

let's see where this debate goes.

The first one was just horror (although cheesy).

That time travel idea sounds interesting. Wouldn't it be funny if Ash was the one who cut of Vigo's head?

Time Travel plays a strong part of Army of Darkness (aka Evil Dead 3). It also plays a part in the recent comics. Although most of the places he travels to are always infested with Deadites in someway.
