Ghostbusters: What in the Samhain is Going on?

Featuring the creative team of writer Peter David (although some sources also credit his wife, Kathleen) and fan favourite, Dan (Dapper Dan) Schoening, Ghostbusters: What in the Samhain is Going on? marks the final holiday-themed one-shot that'll be published by IDW.

Above is the Nick Runge varient for the piece, with promises from IDW E.I.C. Chris Ryall that Dan's cover will appear on soon.


Interesting to see Janine's first appearance on the cover of one of the IDW run… although I'm not a fan of the apparant use of the “Sexy” Ghostbusters costume.

Despite the title, no assumptions should be made that Samhain'll actually appear.

Interesting to see Janine's first appearance on the cover of one of the IDW run… although I'm not a fan of the apparant use of the “Sexy” Ghostbusters costume.

Concentrate on the former instead of the latter. As long as she flirts with Egon and kicks some ghost ass, I can take the ridiculous outfit. Maybe she'll be wearing a regular flight suit in the story itself.

Yeah, since the term can refer to Halloween and not just the pumpkin-headed dude, no guarantees. But wouldn't it be awesome if he does show up?

At first glance I wondered if the shadowy ghost was Slimer, but I'm nnot sure the top of it's head's right.

And Peter David. :-O Man, and I thought Scott Lobdell was a good get. I think the only way IDW could top this is to get that former Amazing Spider-Man and soon-to-be Superman writer J. Micheal Straczynski; I get the odd feeling he'd be a great fit with the Ghostbusters. Oh please oh please oh please let that happen…:-)

The Slimer silhouette, to me, looks like Slimer wearing a chef's hat… or he's hackin up a fur ball.

Like everything but Janine's outfit; panders to those who need cover eye candy…and it being a Halloween themed makes it a winning combo.

I always thought of Ray being similar to Linus believing in the Great Pumpkin.

It's worth stopping by the sister topic at GBFans, where Patrick Creel of the Real Tampa Bay Ghostbusters details their involvement with the creation of this cover, just like when they helped with the design of the Convolution cover. Gotta, say, I like IDW's involving the fans in the cover creation process.

I've got total confidence in Peter David as a writer. Perhaps he'll be the first to actually put out a good Ghostbusters read from IDW. The previous ones have been rather poor.
