Of course, it could be anything, I only wanted to write this idea about how the ghostbusters may work in residential zones. To take the ghost outside is better than destroying everything inside… with the company's credibility with it. I don't know what will follow. Only this next steps pops up in my mind:
Because of the corrupted atmosphere, other towns slowly need the ghostbusters and more gbhq will see the day. A containment unit is good but limited. You can't put everything in it. During the years, more will be needed. Too dangerous to keep more than one on a site, at the company's demand, the city will open a maximum security area outside, where a warehouse will hold all the fully loaded CU.
I like the idea of having a criminal group who target the site during the story, but without puting any spotlight on them and without giving them any magical power (it's “Ghostbusters” not “Terrorists or Vodoobusters”); we could hear about them during the news: “Becose they weren't listened by the US governement, the terrorists are now preparing to take actions, say secret sources…” Put it in a scene where another action is holding the viewers concentration, they will soon forget about this news and it'll do a good surprise later when the terrorists will walk on the ghostbusters maximum security site. Or just send police officers racing for the site becose they received informations saying that a bomb was on it. But my first idea was a powershortage, created by the attack of an evil entity. But a terrorist attack is a very good idea.
If you want hell on Earth, I say that this dangerous site is the key to open the gate; the concentrated energy in each containment unit, suddenly free, mix togheter, creating one terrible hurricane of paranormal activity under the explosion, destroying most of the surrounding, bringing darkness and chaos all over the city, its shadow growing slowly everywhere. Water becomes slime, animals turn into dangerous creatures, what had life lives again (optionnal), waves of negative energy give birth to new ghosts while others rule already the area; never before soo many ghostbusters were seen advancing in the street using soo much power; from the sky, they are like ants, spiting particle beams everywhere as they open slowly the road to what was once the maximum security site… where an horde of terrordogs charge them in one nightmarish vision, creating a doubt in the mind of even the most experienced ghostbusters. “We're on the way!” screams a voice through the radio and before the creatures enter inside their rank, the new Ectobuster arrives loaded with the most powerful ectoshield and weapon ever created: a modified military vehicle. Terrordogs are lifted off the ground by multiple particle beams, making the vehicle look like one giant octopus as it moves its large electric tentacles; the terrordogs are droped in the two portable containment units on the back or thrown meters away. Four large units disconnect from the Ectobuster and get into positions to create a strong energy field where the ghostbusters outside take shelter from the ghosts attacks. The six proton packs connected inside the vehicles, which give power to all its systems, are constantly under observation as the ghostbusters approach their ultimate challenge.
What will it be… Gozer again? Vigo again? Both of them? It can also be a new entity who will fusion with the creatures in the surrounding to become the darkest vision ever seen. It can also be the lord of all evil himself.
During the fight against whatever it'll be, the door is wide open to see Venkman appearing to help (if he died). Why not make the ghosts of the terrorists charge against the enemy while at it, it'll be fun to see those wrong persons turning good after they die “Vengence in the name of the Light!”. Ok I forget about the terrorist idea.
Have you see the movie “Excalibur”? At the end, Lancelot arrives at the last second to help Arthur; the great effect of the scene, I think, comes from the fact that you forgot about him. Lets say Egon made the ultimate weapon or has the ultimate artifact to destroy our devil, the only problem is: you need to reach and touch the thing with it. Ectobuster is out, its shield offline, the ghostbusters are on foot, back to back, as they try to push through the energy waves and lightning that our devil casts against them. Their particle beams is concentrated on him, almost ineffective. They often block some of the attacks with the help of lady luck. The ghosts around strikes like mad crows. One ghostbuster falls. They scream to stay togheter under the tidal waves of energy. The heat is sufficiant to make someone collapse. You can't see your feet on the ground in this almost blinding light. A member of the team is striked and disapear. The ghosts around have no mercy. The last ghostbusters believe they're near their enemy but in fact the target is farther; wearing ectogoogle, the member in the back sees his teamates charging the entity in one desperate attempts, he screams “target's too far!” but cannot be heard. The ghosts above elevate to dive for the deathblow when an army of good spirits appears under them to fight back; Peter Venkman's soul is running like the wind through the ghostbusters, grab the artifact/weapon, takes the lead and spear the devil when it was moving for the kill.
A flash follows, everything becomes grey during an instant and a fog fade slowly. The striked ghostbusters lying on the ground start to move and look around. No trace of the ghosts or any paranormal activity. In front, the other members of the team look at themselves.
Ray is shocked - It was Venkman…
Member - He was with us all the time?
Ray looks around him slowly and the sky, and then smiles at the member - Who knows if he's not looking at us right now.
Member - Aren't we supposed to detect it?
Ray pauses and smiles at him again - we never detected this Holy presence above us.
Winston - I guess it explain why it's important to believe.
I also had the funny idea that Egon's invention would collapse this univers on all the others, making them jump back in time to the days they were in the university. The only difference, they study in another domain, they are sucessful and won't be kicked out. In their mind, the shadow of a memory disapear, they look at each other, are about to ask if they have the same feeling, but forget already what they wanted to say. But it's not a realy good ending. The viewers won't understand.
Well that's about it. Gb3 should be about the end of all paranormal activity and the ghostbuster company. Not the team. Gb2 happened becose the source of this activity, what's allowing the spirit world to return in the world of the living, was never vanquish in the first movie. The reason why the ghostbusters are here must end in this one… or we'll always think that Ghostbuster is a normal job, that it is perfectly normal to trap a soul and stop its evolution, and to built another containment unit after another when it's full, poluting the planet with a timebomb at same time, is perfectly normal.
I want no leading role, no main character. All the attention needs to be everywhere: gbhq to ghbq, to CU site, bust in the cities, the news tellin about how the world has gone wrong, people's life getting sick, the race to find a solution before it s too late, the destruction of the CU site, hell on earth as a result, all the gbs reunited for a plan, the bust through the street to get to the site, the Ectobuster, the evil entity, the fight against it, the help of venkman and the spirit world, the ending of the ghostbusters company and the opening of the GB museum to remember what they've done for our world. Well, a concept turning like that.
So no Oscar (or put only his name in the credits). No Dana / Venkman affair, marriage or anything. No Spotlight on anyone. We know the characters, no need to slow on them and their recruits.
If the ghostbusters have new technology, the original tools should stay the basic. Why not some add-on like we see in the new game, it's great becose it respect the original design. But no slimeblower, it's too dangerous; you can't keep a slime positivly charged for long.
I like the dead of venkman idea. But I don't like venkman to return already, talkin bout what the outer side is, his frustration, etc. I dont like the gb searchin for a way to bring him back. They're no gods, they can't open another univers, they can only be interractive with phenomenons that are occuring. I know, alot won't agree, but I prefer to see them do this in the cartoon only.
And openin a parallal univers to bring back Venkman will collapse all the others on themselves; to substract an element of a logical structure, which is chained with others who depend on the same elements, is the last thing to do when I think about it.
If there's gonna be any reporters, just make a quick scene where they ask a question or where they follow ecto1. But after all the paranormal activity the world saw, I think reporters would prefer to cover a civil war instead of taking the risk of being haunted for the rest of their life.
Also, the grim reaper idea was not only used in FamilyGuy but in the StoryTeller; one had a bag and he captured the dead, nobody died and they asked the man to release it so they can be free at last from this world.
Well, that's it. I know, it's not realy good but it's not bad I think… well I hope my english wasn't too bad on that one.
