A car like that you want to show off to people and unfortunately the Department have taken issue with that, as rediculous as it may be.

This definitely can't be legal. They're threating to fire him for his hobbies, or what he does in his spare time. I think his superior has let the control go over his head, thinking he can do that. Don't get me wrong, he CAN do it, but the problem is he's not suppose to be doing that. (*egon)

They don't seem to respect the personal privacy of their workers. There is nothing illegal about building an Ecto-1 replica. Ok, so it may have something to do with the caution stickers or ambulance lights, that is understandable as it can cause confusion in the streets.

But forcing him to completely stop or be fired from his job? That doesn't make any sense because they have no right to be judging his personal hobbies. Again though, unless he files a complaint, nothing much we can do.

Secrecyguy… I long for the day when you decide to spew forth something original from that unintelligible maw of yours.

This was my post. I crossposted a similar thread to the goons over at something awful and it has received about 25,000 views since yesterday, it is still going. The general consensus is that Robert should bring the media in, try to sue for wrongful termination, and move to another town where people might ‘get it’. At the very least he could expose a public service for being complete pussies.

This thing really smacks of grade-school mentality. I can completely empathize with this man's situation.

To think that these are grown men acting like this…It's sad, it really is. (;_

I really don’t understand why it matters if he drives around in an ECTO-1 on his free time. People won’t take him serious, what if he made a different movie prop car would people take him serious then. Basically they took away his right to have a movie prop car.

Poor guy

I have nothing to add, except he should sue the hell out of his peers.

What exactly can he sue for? Being harassed for like Ghostbusters? This is really a issue that should be taken to the head office, as this is a problem of how the place being run. Right now, the law enforcement there doesn't seem to good if they are letting something like this happen in their office.

What happened to the privacy policy?

Cop Cheif: We gotta call the cops!

Cop1: But sir…

Cop Chief *dials 911 and picks up ringing phone on deks*

Cop Chief: Hello cops? We got a ghost!

Cop1: Um sir…

Cop Cheif: Hold on, where are you? *into second phone* At police HQ.

Cop1: Sir!

Chief: Who the hell is that? *into second phone* My dumb ass partner.
