As every here (should) know, today 20 years ago, the sequel to the #1 blockbuster movie from the 80s hit the theaters: Ghostbusters 2.

I remember months before the premier in my town, I was at the movie theater, I don´t remember what movie did I watch that time, but I saw the teaser poster for the upcoming movie: it was the Gb2 logo (with a Coke can on his left hand) and the legend: “¿Adivina quien viene a salvar el mundo otra vez?” (Guess who is coming the save the world again?).
I didn´t catch it at the time… but I loved it… days later I realized by the news about this sequel… I was so excited. And I watched it at the premier day.
I was 10 years old.

Anyone have his own memories? Share those with us!

I saw GB2 in theaters when I was 8, with my Mom and some friends. I can't really remember how I learned they were doing a sequel. It might have been in The Real Ghostbusters Magazine.

My friends and I were excited during the lead up to the movie, and talked about it all the time. I can't remember seeing the trailers on tv, but I do remember some talk show appearance for the actors and the clips that were shown. Peter ribbing Dana about Oscar's name, the chairs flying in the court room right before the Scoleri Brothers popped up, and Ray and Egon yelling at mood slime in the dish.

My memories of seeing the movie by now are pretty foggy. I can only clearly recall sitting there and seeing a few scenes like the baby carriage rolling down the street, Vigo's head pushing out of the painting for the first time, Dana getting out of the taxi and walking up the museum stairs with all the paper swirling around, Vigo holding Oscar up into the air, and then the revelation of his true face during the finale. I wish I could remember seeing more of the major sequences for the first time.

Once the film came out on VHS, I probably rented it about 30 times. Loved it as a kid. Over time, I started to not think very much of it. But recently (the last four or five years), I've started to appreciate it again.

Its the first film i saw in the theatre as a kid, i will always have a soft spot for this movie.

Like i said in my other post, After watching the movie recently, i think i know why people seem to retread back to the first movie. The first film's pacing is on key with every moment of the story.

The movie runs low on the laughs and entertainment, and focuses more on telling the story, in the middle of the film.

But theres many great scenes in this movie, the walking Statue of Liberty, the dancing toaster, the Courtroom, the subway scene. ALL comedic greatness.

I mean its pretty rare when a big budget comedy, gets a sequel thats actually enjoyable.

Ironic, that 20 years (to-the-day) after the last film, the new film (the game) comes out.

Sort of like Sony planned that…. Hmmmm….

Happy 20th GBII.

I still love the movie even though GB1 is the best and GBII generally gets some stick from movie go-er's.

I remember being facsinated at Ray's desent into the river of slime. Was the only level in the GBII game on the C64 I cared about and would forever have my RGB figure of Ray hooked onto the cable for the Ecto Copter replaying the scene.

And the painting of Vigo scared me! Was only made worse when his head came out of the painting when checking on Janoz the first time it is wheeled out!

Yes. I was 6 years old. I lived 6 hours away from any theatre. I had the colouring book which I vividly remember and it sort of detailed the plot. I was OBSESSED with seeing this movie. We had family in the town said theatre was in, so my parents didn't mind taking me… too much

my dad wanted to see it anyway!

I loved it then and I love it now. Seen it so many times. Never understood how people could dislike it so much. I mean yes the first one is so much better, but #2 is still a great movie! watched #1 on blu ray before i picked up my games (360, wii, ds) yesterday. Going to play the games some more and watch #2 tonight. I love any week that gets me excited about ghostbusters again.

think my girlfriend is getting a little tired of hearing the theme though (been watching RGB every day until release of the game)

I vaguely remember seeing it in theaters. Lotta anniversaries for GB throughout a given year.

The movies, the cartoons, the comics, the game now…
