Well, they're doing it over at www.thegoonies.org Why dont we make a big petition like them? If we got enough people to sign it. It could at least do something. I say it's better than sitting here on our arses and waiting for something to happen.

exactly what im saying cause if enought people sign it it can prove that the movie is worth the 120$ million to make and it will make some income and maybe sony will change their minds.

Look Sony is not the one to blame for not making GB3 its Bill Murray he owns 1/5 of the rights and his not going to do it inless he wakes up and relizes he can make a crap load of money.

well yeah, muray is being an a$$ about this too, but so what? if akroyd has to, he can probably write him out of the script. sure we'll miss him if that happens but i've also hear something that will smith wanted to be a trainee GB if the movie ever happened

Look how many times are going to say this Bill has 1/5 of the rights which means they cant make it inless he says “yes” Dan, Harold, and Ernie want to do it but they can inless Bill gives up the rights and if he does he can either star in the movie or not star

i still don't see why murray dosn't want to make another film though. i mean, look at all these forums online talking about this movie. he said he wanted to move onto bigger and better things and this movie looks pretty damn big from what i see on the net. but the more i read about this, the more doubts i have about murray changing his mind.

As far as I know Bill Murray has only done one sequel in his entire career, and that movie was GB2.

Sure they had to pay him arse loads of money, but he still did it. To me that means he likes The Ghostbusters and considers the franchise to be entertaining.

But why won't he do GB3? I can only assume that he realizes he can't perform up to certain expectations. He probably has seen the physical conditions of his co workers and doesn't think they can perform up to the standards of the fans.

If he said “What the hell, let's do it” and it sucks it does a number of things. It hurts his career, it makes him and the others look foolish, and it disapoints us.

If this is the case, than as much as I'd like to see GB3, I have to agree with Murray.

Maybe he's the only one not blinded by nostalgia, and if that's the case maybe we should be thanking him.

Just a thought.

Actually, accordint to at least popular rumour, Murray wanted GB2 to be subtitled “The last of the Ghostbusters”, partly out of fear of ruining a good thing.

But on this topic's point. Online petitions have been done to death, they have achieved nothing and will never achieve anything, they catty no weight. A letter protest carries more weight due to them being physical objects, but have only slightly more success.

Dan's no longer a part of Sony, so our ‘insider’ is no more (Huh, sounds like Gavin from Mainframe )

With Dan gone, and both Dan and Harold given up on the premise, GB3 will never get the force it needs to be made.

Furthermore, as stated, without Bill's fifth of the rights, there's no dice. The movie won't take off as long as Bill won't play Dr. Peter Venkman, and to be honest, it's not Ghostbusters without Dr. Peter Venkman.

Also, just because Dan wrote a new script, doen't ensure it's a success, for recent reports from ProtonCharging and such, Dan's most recent script, left much to be desired by GB fans, will all intended respect to Dan of course.

I think the only way we can get GB3, is in either fanfics, or fan films.

Sorry guys.
