Have you ever noticed that about the ribbon wire in the movie?

Many people (most) use actual ribbon wire, similar to the kind found inside your computer. The truth is that there is more than one way to do the ribbon wire correctly because: THE 4 PACKS ARE ALL DIFFERENT, SO PICK ONE. Ray`s pack has my favorite kind of “ribbon wire” although it's not ribbon wire. It's more like small wires all bunched up and then fanned out into the cyclotron. In another of the ghostbusters`s pack has a difference which you can only see in the scene where the ghostbusters put their packs on in front of the Schandor buiding with all the people standing around etc. If you watch carefully, you'll notice that the RED sticker on one of the packs (on top of the EDA box) is actually BLUE! Whaddya know?! Check it yourself, see what else you can find.

The thing that alot of people don't relize is that the packs were never made on a production line. Every single pack should have their own character and feel to them. Maby on one pack the Blue box's lighting would be red because the could not find the same part. Thats one of the things that i dont like about the rates that people give they never (with the exeption of a few) rate the pack on originality or desighn. It's always on how accurate the pack is to the movie..bleh,im done ranting now…

A lot of times a prop “shopper” brings in a bunch of parts that a prop man will use when builing the prop. In the case of the packs, the shopper probably bought a bunch of ribbon wires from a surplus electronics store that were all different and the prop builder simply pulled 'em out of the box.

I thought that since they had two different packs for the filming, the lighter and easier on the actors, and the heavier ones only used for certain shots. Doesn't Ivan say something about that in the commentary? If so, how can you tell the difference?

Yes, but what is more conveinent to use and less likely to become tangled with anything else? And I agree here, whatever is easier for you to use. smile

Yeah Ivan did say somehting about that. He even said something about making some out of rubber. That would explain why Peter's pack “squishes” when he rolls on it after being slimed.
