HELP: Best Buy Preorder Release Date?

If you go to the Best Buy website they have GB: TVG as release date 6/17/2009. Check it out:

So, I contacted Best Buy Online to let them know and ask if it was just a typo. Here is the response I got back:


Hi Christopher,

I'm sorry for the confusion over the release date.

Our information online states the release date is 6/17/2009. If the release date has changed, that will be updated when we are notified by the manufacturer.

Again, I apologize over the confusion on the release date,

So, I'm hoping this is just a typo and my local Best Buy will have copies ready for pick-up tomorrow. Otherwise, I'll have to go across the street to Toys R Us or GameStop to buy one there. (*_*)

Lots of stores claim that the date is usually the ship date, and that the release date is a day or so later. Its really hit or miss and sometimes just depends on how far away you are from a distribution center.

Reading this post, I called my Gamestop and they will have it tomorrow. The person said “all Gamestop's should have it tomorrow at open” but we know some ghostheads have been told otherwise. I wish the ship date and release date confusion was ended and all stores get games on the same day.

What is funny is some Bestbuys get games WAY earlier than Gamestop sometimes and some people have walked into Bestbuys and bought games that are not to be sold yet.

I'd bet Best Buy, EB Games/Gamestop, WalMart etc already have the stock in already. They are just waiting on the date.

i just got my e-mail confirmation from best buy saying the game will be available for pick-up no earlier than 6/17/2009! the store does not open until 10 am EST so i am going to give them a call to make sure they have it in stock. this has to be some minor error, i hope. :-O

if not looks like i'll be on my lunch break searching for a copy of GB:TVG

My Walmart had it in stock… picked up the Wii version at midnight… off to GameStop around 10 to pick up my PS3 version.

Big sigh of relief! Gamestop had 5 copies left and I picked one up. AMEN! Now just a few short hours of work left then going home to bust some ghosts!
