Hey, I just found my ECTO-1A!

I just found my ECTO-1A which was missing for a long time! Remarkably, all the parts I attached were still on there, even after a year. However, I'm still having a few problems with it. NAMELY:

1) I'm planning to make the scrolling message boards from a stick of basswood painted with the appropriate colors. However, I can't get the details (WE'RE BACK and FOR HIRE) quite right with the paints. If any of you have the original Kenner decals, could you please scan them to me and I'll print them elsewhere? Thank you.

2) I'm having problems with the big egglike thingummy on the back of the car. A) What is it supposed to be and B) what should I use to create it?

I already have some parts left over from the EGB Ecto-1 on the car's roof rack, and some of the roof details painted with Sharpie, but what else could I use (little transistors and such like?)

Please provide some information, and I'll try to get it done as soon as I can.

Well…

You talking about the Real Ghostbusters Ecto 1A toy car right?

On the Polar Lights model car, I heard of someone making these signs using a gel pen.

Yes, the RGB model. I've already painted the basswood strips with black tempera paint, what should I do to make the signs–what will show up over the black paint?

I will say use model paint. The ones you use to paint model cars.

By any chance, are you an employee at the “Department of Redundancy Department”? :-) (^_^)

Thank you for the tip, though. I'll get some model paints today.

FLASH:

I will be revising my Ghostbusters Christmas Firehouse tomorrow, with the partially-customized ECTO-1A included. Expect pictures soon.

Hey, if anyone has some small GBII logos on a white background (about the size necessary to place on a Kenner door) could you send them to me? The original ECTO-1A logos are starting to look a bit dirtied and yellow.

UPDATE: The car will soon have actual working lights on the roof rack.

UPDATE: Working lights are all in order. So far I've been using two cardboard strips attached to the inner roof with Velcro. Must go back to the drawing board–the cardboard disintegrates too easily. Thinking about going with popsicle sticks, or even basswood.

Looking forward to seeing the updates on the car, Nix. Keep us posted on progress like you've been doing to date.
