If there's a thread on this already – I appologise in advance. I did a quick search, and didn't find anything.

Anyways – I've noticed quite a few people here have 15-20 line signatures, which, to me at least, is quite extreme. Why should a signature be longer than the content of the average member's post? Another board where I spend most of my time – our rules are that you can have no more than 3 lines in a signature. While that works for that site(and I personally like it that way), that's probably too little of space for you all here. How about a nice medium – around 6 lines max?

As it is, we can view 15-16 posts per thread – and when 60% of the text on a single page is because of people's signatures – that's just not right. It just clutters up the topic at hand. While I know quite a few of you wouldn't like this – don't we want GBN to be easier to navigate, look better, and to load faster? I certainly do. I'm not sure if we should have an official rule here about it, but, i do hope some people will take this into consideration

Besides, there already is a 200 character limit.

i agree with shortening signatures. posters with friggin long sigs should be ashamed of themselves and they should be edited or removed, or something fixed to three lines or a certain amount of characters. but, because this idea is an absolutely fantastic idea, and is right up there with buzzing, that make many other online message board communities the fantastic places they are, this idea will be tossed aside, and given a terribly lame reason why it isnt going to be done.

Considering that a lot of my posts can be long (I'm excessively verbose some times, I know) I know my signature didn't fit into the “longer than the post” category very often.

But heck, I shortened it anyway to go along with my new avatar and signature image…this better? :d

Okay, I've shortened my sig froma top 20 list to a top 5 list. But that's as short as it's getting!
