Hiding signatures - is it possible?

Would it be possible to add a checkbox in the profile page, that allows you to hide signatures if it is checked? This way the posts could be all neat and aligned (in many posts, the signature takes more room than the post itself, and what looks like a big reply is actually a one-line reply with a huge load of pictures just after) and the page wouldn't grow in size as you read the posts (thereby scrolling somewhere else)!

That feature may take a few versions until it gets implemented into the whole forum php package thing.

But it's a good idea, let's hope that feature is implemented with GBN v2.0

But it may be a while! Probably best to turn images off for this forum when browsing then.

P.S. sorry you got a reply from one of said perpetrators. :p

Bump. Any news on this? Hiding avatars and especially signatures would be great. A lot of forums do this. For one thing, I don't like all of the visual clutter, not to mention “safe for work”.

No updates I'm afraid… but there isn't really anything that'd be a problem at work. At least, nothing really pornographic. Cartoony on the other hand, that's a different problem.

PhpBB3, the next generation version of the PhpBB2 software running this board, does have a setting in the User Control Panel that lets you turn off Signature Displays.

But Chad's previously expressed more interest in IPB or VBulletin if he changes the software. Those probably have a similar setting.

(I'm partial to PhpBB3 myself, but that's neither here nor there–it's Chad's board and he'd have to make that decision.)

I am in the same boat as Fritz. I am kind of partial to Phpbb myself as well…and I absolutely love 3.0 which I have several different forums running off the software forum.

But as stated before by Fritz it's Chads board and as he said earlier this week…he plans on changing to another program….but I am always open to try something new.

I would also like something that puts all the posts on one page, or at least increases the number per page.

that would be nice..

Having them all on one page would be a bit much, but having an increase on max per page would be nice

VBulletin (which Chad has said will be the new program) will let you do that–I used to go to some of Bandai's board that run it. It's under your profile under “Posts Per Page”; you can select “Board Default” or select a number. For example, Bandai had their boards set for ten posts per page; I changed it to twenty in my profile.
